McCarthy: All hands on deck heading into holiday weekend

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
There's an effort to keep you safe this weekend as Chicago celebrates the July 4 holiday.

Chicago Police will be working 12-hour shifts running Friday to Monday and firefighters are also on high alert.

This comes after an especially violent holiday weekend last year triggering headlines from coast to coast when 82 people were shot, 14 of those shootings were fatal.

Chicago is also coming off a violent June.

The latest numbers show last month had 13 more homicides than June 2014 and 24 more shooting victims though overall crime is down by 7 percent.

Well according to Jim Hoft at'Gateway Pundit', the FBI has cancelled all vacation days for agents on July 4th, is opening command centers in 56 field offices, and is telling local police to increase vigilance levels for July 4th.

It is alleged that the threat is so serious that some agents are said to be telling family and friends to avoid large public events on Saturday.

Several current and former Homeland Security/CIA/FBI and other alphabet agency senior staff have been doing the TV circuit predicting that something will happen this weekend. Of course no one has any specifics, so they are making predictions based on the number of 'lone wolf' jihadi wannabes that have been arrested in the last couple months, coupled with the usual 'Kill the Infidels!' chatter coming out of the Middle East around significant dates or holidays.

Wanna be safe? If your state allows open carry of firearms, then do so. If you have a concealed carry permit, exercise the privilege. Drink alcohol sparingly(or not at all) while carrying out in public. If someone screams "Death to America!" and poses a deadly threat by producing a weapon, then help him or her meet Allah at high speed with two in the chest and one in the head.

If these people realize they'll be taken down in a couple seconds by an armed bystander, then maybe they chicken out this time, and give us time to root them out in future.

Congressman Peter King on Fox news last night has pumped up the fear level to '11' saying that he fears a 'dirty bomb' attack this weekend in NYC. On air with Megyn Kelly, King speaks in some detail about how nuclear detection equipment and explosives detection equipment is being deployed and the tens of millions being spent to prevent some kind of radiological incident. In addition he talks about surveillance cameras being re-tasked, sniper teams being deployed, etc etc.

He claims to have been getting briefings for a couple weeks now about various threats, and how the law enforcement community seems to be much more intense than usual this time around.

Not sure if King is simply grandstanding for more budget money next year, or if he's on the level. I do know it's the second story I've seen in as many days that infers law enforcement is freaking out a little over a possible attack in the USA this weekend.

Maybe avoid NYC this weekend? Invite people you know there to somewhere out of town? Just a thought.....

There are two completely different situations at work. There is the "Forth of July" terror threat, which applies to Chicago as it does to the rest of the US. However, Chicago has a thug/gang problem that has gotten completely out of control and is the result of the inner city black culture that has disintegrated in urban areas across the US. Gun laws won't help because gun laws are not enforced ... except by law abiding citizens.

The real problem is that criminals, after committing robbery, murder, attempted murder, and the like, are released back into society in the revolving door prison system. Many now live and play in Chicago where they are expected to "act out" this weekend. There will be a death toll to pay.

Ok, Chicago crime (could be a TV show title). What do we need to know? It's been out of control for years now. Obama's former right hand man Rahm Emanuel is like 0 for 50 in the idea department on how to tamp it down.

According to statistics there were over 2,000 violent crimes in May 2015 in Chicago. So about 69 times a day, someone is beaten, stabbed, raped, shot, or somehow violently attacked. That's almost 1 attack every 20 minutes!

There are 2.7 million people in Chicago. By the time that current population hits 52 years old, odds are 50% of them will have been crime victims. Taking into consideration lower crime rates in the affluent areas, some people may be crime victims 2 or 3 times by the age of 50.

You gotta wonder what nursing homes are gonna look like in the year 2055 when they start to fill up with the first generation of Bloods, Crips, Black Guerrilla Family, etc etc.

The Fourth of July holiday
weekend is already shaping up to be a violent
one. Ten people were shot, three fatally,
across Chicago in the last 24 hours.
Two of those shootings happened on the
South Side overnight: one in Back of the Yards
and one in Brainerd.
Police said around midnight, a 26-year-old
man was sitting on his porch near West 49th
Street and South Justine Street when a man
walked up to him and shot him in the back.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he
later died.
Police said around 1 a.m. Friday, a 46-year-
old man and 43-year-old woman were
walking in an alley near West 92nd Street and
South Ashland Avenue when someone in a
white van shot both of them.
The man was shot in the head. He died at the
scene. The woman was shot in the abdomen
and buttocks. She was taken to Advocate
Christ Medical Center, where her condition
stabilized.
No one is in custody for either shooting.
Chicago police are working 12-hour shifts to
try and combat the violence over the long
holiday weekend.
