Jenn I know the name Sorenson...but not specifically Sorenson Farm. What do they do there, horses, cattle, or... I even get on a Brainerd site just so I can lust after the lakes and cabins....Bemidji hated Brainerd.... who has the best Paul Bunyan Well Bemidji has the biggest Paul Bunyan (in one of the Road Rules Seasons on MTV they even stopped and took pics with it)however Brainerd has the better theme park. So i would have to say that bemidji is better, cuz its famous! |

I went to Hawaii last year. No bugs at all. Drive all day and not one on your window or grill. That is a miracle. |

Ah yes..the Minnesota Mosquitoes.
We have the 442 101st Battalion Fighters (AJA Americans of Japanese Ancestry). When we met a few of them at a military club, the first thing out of their mouths was oh yes the huge Mosquitoes... I think they were there for training, maybe when Ft. Snelling was more active. Fight a war and remember the Minnesota mosquito as the enemy. Thanks Jenn for the support for Bemidji's Paul Bunyon. I have been thinking about the Sorenson family. In grade school I had a best friend named Bonnie Sorenson...thought she moved away tho'. Cheers and pass the lefsa and Land O Lakes butter... Hold the lutefisk...got to be in the right frame of mind for that.. |

Hi Poly..
Just finished a batch of Lefsa... So here's some warm ones for ya.... I haven't thought about Lutefisk in a long while... |
|
|
|
Hi Earth Sprite...
love the lefsa... Regarding lutefisk, I am the only kid in the family who would eat it. I think it was the melted butter. People used to put it on someway on other peoples car radiators and then when it heated up...aaaaaaaaaaawwwww the smell. I used to tell everyone who didn't know where Bemidji was that we lived just below the bump in Minnesota's map. We took several car trips to International Falls and Ft. Francis. It is great country up that way. Cheers, Erlene |

Hi Erlene...
I made Lutefisk for my Grandpa many times, but each time that I did, I ended up clearing out the house...Even the cats left.. After the last post from you I phoned my Mom and we got to talking about all of that... And she has decided that we need some futtimun and crumcakkens for Christmas too... Going to be some good eating this year... |

Thanks Jenn for the support for Bemidji's Paul Bunyon. I have been thinking about the Sorenson family. In grade school I had a best friend named Bonnie Sorenson...thought she moved away tho'. Do you know who sue and ivar sorenson are?? They have been pretty big news up there recently. They are my aunt and uncle. The reason for their somewhat celeb status is becasue this time last year, my uncle was in a very bad hunting accident. He fell out of his tree stand and landed on a fallen tree. He was air lifted out to fargo, where he died 5 times. He is alive now however, he is now paralyzed from the waist down. This man is my hero. |

Jenn,
I'll ask my friend about Sue & Ivar. Thats quite a story about your uncle. I'm glad to hear he is still with you! Both of my parents (late) had to go to Fargo for special tests to find out what was wrong with them. Minnesota....State Food....casserole....Tater Tot casserole...a classic. I love tater tots. State motto should be: "You betcha" Earth Sprite.. Fattiman, and krumkaka...love krumkaka...lots of work. My Mother's side, the Norwegian side, they were bread bakers to the max. I still hate to eat most of the sweet rolls around...they just don't taste the same. My mom used to bake this thing that was bread dough..similar to a donut...it was filled in the center with prune filling...she thought it was Czech..it would be Slavic area for sure.. Cheers and Later, Erlene |

In Hawaii we love spam....we have a spam cookbook... we have a festival in Waikiki every year, The Spam Fest. My Minnesota relatives could not believe it. Guess Hawaii people got started on it because it was a canned staple from sailing ship days.... McDonalds prodly serves for breakfast Spam and eggs.....spam extra crispy!!! poly |

A WINTER STATISTIC
98% of Americans say, "oh ****" before going in the ditch on a slippery road. 2% The other 2% are from Minnesota and they say, "hold my beer and watch this." |
