Big Joe - ( joethebricky ),

I guess my favorite among good solid poets of their eras would be Walt Whitman. Walt, ye may recall, used to write political speeches - on occasion for then president Abraham Lincoln. I mean aside from Walt's stellar attributes as a writer/poet. Another big favorite would be, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) . But, big Joe, there are so many others.

Here's a shot of those mentioned in this message - including US President Abraham Lincoln . . .

Please allow for this poetry related message as it relates to a clean request by a good solid person of this forum, ( joethebricky. )I felt rather than carrying these photos - with accompanying message in reply, below his comments, in the previous message stream, that it might reach him more broadly as a new topic instead.

Captain my Captain, our fearful trip is done

Cheers Tom, very kind of you

I never knew he wrote speeches for Lincoln but I remember he wrote a poem for him.
I just had to Google the above line because I couldn't recall which poem it was, I also never knew he wrote the above when Lincoln died.

You learn something every day.

Thanks again Tom, take it easy my friend

Big Joe ( joethebricky ),

Your very welcome pal. Yes, on those occasions Walt was called in by the president to write scripts for his speeches. I've always wondered what those speeches were. I'd love to peruse them and look for Walt's signature style. Factually though, I Have read bits and pieces of past speeches by Lincoln and I swear to ye to this day I do recall a bit of Walt in some. That's just off the cuff though.

Ok, Big Joe, be well pal.
