Maybe it is having to learn many things from the seat of my pants and a lot of others because someone took pity on me and opened a window when I could not get through a door if you could have a little help from your friends what do you think you would ask them to share?

I don't really understand the question.
They're my friends...we already share what we can with each other if someone is in need?
That's what friends are for?

Otherwise I wouldn't ask for anything they weren't willing to give?
And I'd know what they weren't willing to give based on knowing who they are? Because they're friends?

what do you think you would ask them to share?

Time, opinions, logical reasons for their options when we disagree, support, life experiences, patience, acceptance for who I am, humor, interest, kindness, and life in general.....am I asking too much? what

Possibly ironically, the only real difference between a friend and a romantic partner is the sexual component. At least as far as I can tell.

Absolutely in my world I have some friends I share everything with except SEX and they me... Hell even that subject is brought up from to time knowing full well it is NOT going to happen with each other..

The one thing I would have my friends help me with is to be a sounding board...

This question is so subjective to me.

I have wonderful friends, we have seen each other through some tough times we have laughed together rejoicing over someone great fortune, We have cried together when one of our lives are falling apart.

I have very few close friends. The ones I do have are more important to me than anything else in my life. With the exception of my kids of course.

I reckon I'd ask them to share the sharing.

Nothing hacks at the dignity of another human being than always being given to but never taken from.

All though well meaning, when someone attempts to repay kindness and we refuse it because "it isn't necessary", we make that person feel inferior to us and as if they have nothing to contribute.

You can lose a friend or a mate that way.

So my friends - share and share alike.

In my world I have outer circle of friends and yet they are important but my inner circle of friends I have no secrets they know where all the bodies are buried, which closet has the skeletons. etc... Those are the ones I would trust with my life. So yes they are more important than anything except kids to me.

We don' need no steeeeenkin' friends!

Ooooops, some movie or other got under my fingers.

The only thing I've ever asked from a friend is 'Don't let me become invisible.'

Don't need anything else, and I'll give sooooo much more. Sometimes, it even works.

I think the greatest gift my friends give me is hope that the things I try to do are going to be accomplished. My patience is very limited so their perspective is very helpful.

The idea that friends are very often like lovers without the sex is true. I know when my friends helped me find love it was helpful. I know one friend in particular wished it was him and that was tough. But being his friend I kept helping him look and he did find someone that was a lot better match than me so it worked out.

The only thing I have ever asked them to share is their ears. I am one who NEEDS sounding boards to bounce my weird thoughts off of. It's difficult to reach out and ask someone to simply listen. sad2
...I have never had a problem asking for assistance, when I help, I ask but asking simply for a friend to listen is difficult.

Nah Bicky, my Darlin, I thought you were being funny. We have to have a little fun in these threads. I hope people never take me serious when I am playing the Devil made me say it. Then I would be in real trouble. lol

The most valuable gift I have had from friends (including one here) has been the gift of acceptance and sane human support.

It's a bit like when I was a little kid, and realized that when I hurt myself and was afraid, that the most important thing my parents could do (which most strangers and authority figures utterly failed to do), was to reassure me that I had not become a useless bit of garbage to them, simply because I made a mistake.

That's a good point.
