And grandma claims mom had a mental illness... "" Vontasha Simms claims her daughter was diagnosed with a mental illness about three months ago and had been seeking help, up until police discovered her with her son at Wills Memorial Park. The park is about a mile away from a hotel where the family is staying. Vontasha Simms told WUSA 9 they are homeless and that Romechia suffered depression trying to deal with this while still taking care of her son. "I don't want people to look down upon her I want people to use the situation as an opportunity to grow, learn from it. Like I said, help your neighbor, if you suffer from mental issues and you need help, don't be afraid to reach out to somebody," Vontasha Simms said. An autopsy has been conducted, but Charles County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Diane Richardson told WUSA9 their findings are incomplete because they are still waiting for toxicology reports and other information to return. Police will not comment on whether mental illness played a role. Neither will the man believed to Ji'Aire's father, who declined to comment on the situation."" http://www.wusa9.com/story/news/local/maryland/2015/05/25/woman-pushes-dead-son-swing-maryland/27935891/ |

Seems when the financial situations starts to squeeze the family lifestyle or there's a possible mental issue/mommy depression situation {Texas mom drowned her children in her auto/mom stabbed her 5 kids etc., etc., etc.,} the mother was looking and sending signals but the humans around her were just too late to save the victim! Poor Dad...trying to do it the 'LEGAL' way; DAMMMM |

does anyone know if they found the cause of death? -------------------------------------------------------- Mom Found Pushing Dead Son on Swing Diagnosed Bipolar Autopsy on 3-year-old showed no signs of trauma. Posted: 05/31/2015 03:03 PM EDT By Evelyn Diaz A mental breakdown and a custody battle were both factors that contributed to the tragic scene in La Plata, Maryland last week, when a woman was discovered pushing her dead 3-year-old on a swing in a local park. The incident came just weeks after the mother, Romechia Simms argued in a Washington, D.C. court to keep custody of her preschooler, Ji'Aire, after her former boyfriend James Lee attempted to take him from her. Lee had told the court he was concerned about Simms' mental state after seeing her behave erratically in recent months. “I do not believe she can safely care for our son,” he wrote in his March custody petition, according to The Washington Post. “I am concerned about my child’s safety and well being. I want to make sure that our son is safe.” Simms, 24, said her breakdown was caused by “an extreme amount of stress weighing heavy on me,” but she said she’d since recovered. “I am now in a much better productive space,” she wrote in April, adding, “I have done everything in my power since moving from D.C. to ensure that my son has the best life that he can have.” | AFRICAN-AMERICANS AND MENTAL HEALTH: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW | Less than two weeks later, the toddler was found dead at Wills Memorial Park in the early morning hours. Authorities who found Simms and her baby boy said she had been pushing him in a swing for hours, possibly since the previous afternoon. Simms was released from the hospital on Friday (May 29). She was diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder. Ji’Aire’s cause of death is unknown. His body showed no signs of trauma, authorities said, adding that no charges have been filed. http://www.bet.com/news/national/2015/05/31/mom-found-pushing-dead-son-on-swing-diagnosed-bipolar.html |
