What is more important in a friend, one who coddles you and tells u everything will be fine or one that challenges and pushes you at every turn?

"Pushes and challenges you at every turn" is a control-freak or a bully. "Coddles you" all the time is an over-doting parental control freak. There's very few questions in this world with only two possible answers. Especially not where people and relationships are concerned.

My true friends the ones that I have no secrets or boundaries will do these things. will lift me up when I fall will tell me my faults as they tell me my strengths will always be honest with me even if it hurts, will always have my best interests at heart. Will encourage me to be the best I can possibly be at all time. will hold me when I cry. will be there when I saw I need you... I don't want a mimic that is going to coddle me nor do I want a tyrant that will continually push me.. I want a human that will love me as I am

Which one has more money and cool stuff and a hot sister and is more free wheeling with it all? What type of person am I in your question? Why can't I have both of those people as friends? If one wants to coddle me, then good for them, that's their personality. If one wants to challenge and push me at every turn, that's their personality. A friendship is based on more than just just one particular personality trait. Are they good friends to have? Or is their only point or purpose in life to coddle or push me? Do they not hang out with me? Talk to me? Experience life with me? Do they just call me at 2 in the morning and try to coddle or push me?

Actually I do not require someone's constant reassurance be it friend,family member or man in my life I would much prefer someone honest that knows me,what makes me tick and can have a real conversation

I always thought the best people to be friends with are the ones that will challenge you when they feel it's needed, support you when you need it, and not be offended when you do the same. Someone honest and not needy. Hmmm come to think of it that is what would make a good girlfriend as well. :)
