I would to show you rev heads some Aussie muscle cars.....
The first in this bunch is what is considerd the top if the heap..... Ford XY Falcon GTHO phase III 351ci in, is an Australian built muscle car based on the Ford Falcon. Released in 1971, with only 300 produced..... With the rev limiter disabled it was capable of 228 kilometres per hour (142 mph) and would pull 7,000+ rpm in 4th gear. The rev limiter was set to 6,150 rpm.... It was known as the fastest 4 door production cat in the world at the time.... Before the global financial crisis they were selling at auction for up to $800,000 to $900,000... at present I have seen 2 for sale for around $380,000....a replica can be had for $50,000 This car is the holy grail of Australian muscle cars..... It was also known as the Shaker because of the air intake scoop that protruded out of the bonnet that shook with the motion of the engine.... |

my favorite street machine has to be the Subaru WRX STI. stock 305 hp, all wheel drive, handles like a go cart. i have personally seen a STI with about 20,000$ worth of mods completely embarrass a lamborghini. plus the sound of a turbocharged boxer engine with a good exhaust is divine. they run about 35,000$ brand new but theres so many aftermarket parts for these things that you can make them pretty fast for not so much money. and like i said if ya got about 20 grand to dump in it, you can leave quarter million dollar supercars in your dust. i've always been very fond of ferrari's as they are my absolute favorite but i know theres a small chance i would ever be able to afford one, thats where the WRX comes into play. it is my favorite street machine thats actually within the realm of possibility of me owning. the sound of a ferarri is amazing! even better than the WRX, but once again if i was rich i would definately own a ferrari, but im not so i try to be realistic which being realistic a WRX is my favorite. as far as a classic muscle car i'd prolly go with an older Pontiac GTO, a friend of mine has an older one fully built and that thing is a beast!

In Australia in the 70s the big three car manufacturers had huge battle for sales......
Chysler or Valiant as we knew them came up with the Charger....The 1972 E49 Charger came with a 265cu in engine...I know a 6 cylinder!!!... but it had the quickest acceleration of any Australian production car - 14.4 seconds in the quarter mile..... respectable even when compared to American big-blocks or 1990s sport compacts. |
