Yes, they are actually attracted to the protons at nucleus of the atom... somewhat like the guys at a popular bar. Like the bar, when you (the electron) get close the proper term for them changes to morons which repels just enough to keep you at a distance. If you ever fully fuze with the proton you (the electron) becomes a neutron which means you are not allowed to date anymore.
