Topic: ANYONE out there affect electronics, can't wear watches, etc | |
---|---|
I read somewhere that someone finally recognized through real scientific investigation, that some of us do actually kill old style wind up watches, just by wearing them. Thank goodness for electronic watches, or I wouldn't have made it through the part of my life where being on time was required.
I don't see any reason to think there's anything more to this than that it's another natural phenomenon which will eventually be explained. By something OTHER than "space aliens." I have a few instances where electronics which would not work for me, did work for everyone else. I never found out why this was so, but at least I managed to get witnesses at the time, to verify that it wasn't just me being clumsy some how. Waaaaay back when I was a kid in college, I bought a brand new stereo cassette deck (i.e. I'm so old, the idea of digital recording wasn't even a fantasy). I had been looking forward to copying my LP records (another sign of how ancient I am) onto tapes, so that I could listen to them in my car. But EVERY TAPE I MADE, sounded horrible, as though the tape were varying in speed uncontrollably. I couldn't just exchange the deck, as I got the last one available, AND, I found that my college roommate could make perfectly wonderful tapes using all the same equipment. We finally tried several experiments. Each of us made short recordings, using the same tape, as well as different tapes. First one of us, then the other. Then reverse order. We even tried me holding his wrists to press the buttons on the deck, and him holding my wrists to do the same. EVERY tape made when my hands were touching the deck failed, including the ones where he guided my movements. EVERY tape made when HE was touching the machine, was flawless. So I sold the thing to a neighbor, promising to hold his money for a month, to make sure that he had no problems. he never did. I've had an occasional repeat experience over the years. Ironically, I fix technology for a living, and am very good at it. As long as I don't own it, repairs go very smoothly. No idea what's going on, save that I'm sure it's not "aliens." |
