op... that is a wonderful story... when I was really little...not even sure how young... someone adopted a toddle in our neighborhood ... Japanese ...Chinese ...
Asian... have know idea her culture ... but I thought she was so darn cute ... and this is in WV ... did not believe anyone cared and just loved her ... and after that ...have know idea how things went for this young child ... and I went to high school with many different cultures ... so I was introduce to this really young ... and certainly glad I was ... and that was a time of much predigest ... and I was well liked ... and very friendly ... with most everyone ... and learned it is not the race its the person ... that does something you may not like ... I have always tried to keep that in mind ... and try not to judge anyone ... how well I have done with that ... not sure ... ... and at the time was always told your to naive ...still did not care ... I liked who I liked and learned about Gays & lesbians then also ... still did not bothered me... I still liked who I like ... now this was funny had a friend she was black and asked her if she wanted to spend the night ... if you could have seen my fathers face ...it was priceless remember back in the days of much predigest... but I grew up in America & traveled where all the foreigners are ... so that is more experience that some will ever have in a life time... and makes me very proud of our country becouse of ...

Intolerance and Acceptance...

In the last few days I have noticed and I presume some of you have as well that there seems to be an element of intolerance and a bit of meanness creeping into some of the boards.....

I have very little sympathy for anyone that is going post in such a manner, I mean we are here to find friends and partners........aren't we??? of course some are here for the forums only and thats cool, but some posts and messages are starting to look very un mingle like.
You and the little lady exhibit this well...thank u both for your kindness... ...maybe all we need to do is say repeat after me...hugs...
People in here come from as many different walks of life as there is letters in the alphabet and them some. Most here are searching for love, not expecting to be put down for who or what they are, if peeps are going to put down, degrade or generally display an intolerant attitude towards people......well what sort of partner or friends are they expecting to attract?????

In case your wondering why I feel this way...a little about me. I have been raised to respect, accept and tolerate every human being, no matter what or who they are.
When I was 11 my parents made the decision to not have anymore children naturally and decided to adopt......they chose the two babies that had been "left on the shelf" because they didn't fit the accepted social norms of the time. So my brother is mixed race, Chinese/Caucasian and my sister is also mixed race Indian/New Zealand Maori.

There was a lot of intolerance in those days and my parents lost most of their friends because of this.....so sad.
Mum was mum to everybody and over the years she took under her wing all sorts of cast offs and rejected people, this gave us kids a great respect for all walks of life.
Even right now where I work is only 10% English speaking, the other 90% is Filipino, Chinese, South Korean and Sudanese....intolerance in my workplace is a sack-able offence!

For as long as I can remember our family had this acceptance mantra:

If you are black, white, yellow, martian red or any other colour........I accept you.

If you are Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist or any other religion........I accept you.

If you come from the south of the border, up north, out west or over east........I accept you.

If you are young, old, intelligent, mentally challenged or in between.........I accept you.

If you tattoo your face, If you have wild piercings, if you scar yourself in the name of individuality.........I accept you.

If you are gay, lesbian, transgender, or even hermaphrodite!.........I accept you.

If your heart is pure, made of gold, dark or damaged.........I accept you.


Anyway........this is just my 2 cents worth, I know we all can't get along, it's not human nature, but even if only 1 person has a look at themselves I will feel I haven't wasted my time writing this.

Here I sit having posted this topic about tolerance and acceptance.....
And the best advice is to tolerate, no matter what.....
Then the initial subject matter pops up again in our thread....
saying something he really should not be saying......

How do I tolerate this?????

accept that there are people who enjoy doing the intolerable...
