My missus said what about Pete Townsend and Keith Richards? I love them both, but I stand by my choices. Honestly, if anything, this discussion only proves that a top 5, 10, or even 20 list is going to have someone unhappy with the list. But it is fun to discuss. |

Great topic man..... Slash Jimmy page Jimi Hendrix Tony Iommi Carlos Santana This list but I'd have to squeeze Peter Frampton in there some place. |

This is at least a debate where we can agree that some very worthy names have been mentioned. And frankly, I've noticed some that I'm surprised no one has mentioned, but I'll let someone bring them up. Of all the names thrown out there so far, I would only argue against one of them. Some of the names mentioned were hard to leave off the list. Others were easy. I didn't include some of my favorites because, truthfully, just because I like them doesn't mean they are the best. Ace Frehley, for example. He's good, and he's my favorite, but he's not not top 10 good, and the only reason he would make a top 20 is because he is my favorite. |

Jerry Reed came out of nowhere, but I like that list.
And on the previous list, Chuck Berry is the real King of Rock and Roll, but maybe we can discuss that on another thread. |

You've made a convincing enough point that James Burton has just been replaced on my list. Great call! And the women who have been named are hard to argue against, but Nancy Wilson remains the only woman in my top 5. Some of those could possibly find themselves in my top 10 or 20 though. I'm still surprised by some names that not being mentioned by anyone. Eddie Van Halen, most notably, even though I'm glad no one has considered him. |
