I have found retro ads to make women look like complete idiots are photoshopped and are not always genuine.

my step sisters who are significantly older used to have their wig collection. the only thing creepier than some of their wigs was the Styrofoam heads for holding them. |

Speaking of wigs. There's a low budget horror movie from the late 80's titled The Boneyard (it's where my mutant poodle pic is from), Phyllis Diller is in it. The director was invited over to her house to help her pick out a wig for the movie. She took him into her wig room, yep, an entire room just for her wigs. The director seeing her without the wig asked if she'd be willing to do the part sans wig. She agreed, and it's one of the (if not the only) time she's appeared on screen not wearing a wig.
