Topic: Was the Pope correct | |

It's one thing to insult a religion and quite another to second-guess a religious doctrine.
Some people have no intentions of being disrespectful but they're at an impasse to condone a certain idea or dogma. |

Of course Francis would want a limit on speech.
That way nobody could publish a cartoon like this one: |

He is basically correct. He's just making an observation on what has, and will continue to happen. But I'm not Catholic...so what do I know. He is correct that people can provoke others by bashing religion. But I think that should be qualified. It does not excuse the actions of terrorists. People are free to their thoughts, opinions and words and anyone who suggests otherwise is edging into tyranny. Plus any deflection of blame for terror onto anyone other than those responsible, dishonors the innocents killed by terrorists and does not place blame squarely where it belongs and that is right on the shoulders of those terrorists who are 100% responsible for their actions. any attempt to blame victims, others, or excuse terrorist acts is in itself a form of terrorism |

Tone down freedom of speech? Do you realize how scary that sounds? Where do you draw the line THERE?..... Anyway, it would never be toned down enough for radicals. They have a zero tolerance policy for insulting Mohammad or whoever they worship.... At least if you're going to quote me then quote me fully. I did say freedom of speech should not be used as an excuse to insult people' now it don't sound so scary does it. |
