Topic: Personal Answer | |

Do you ever while talking to someone ask them a question and they give the "everyone does this" answer instead of personally answering the question?

If they answer that way, I give them my best 'Spock' look,
and say "but do you"? If I don't get a straight answer, I get out the stock prod. |

yeah...and I have to admit...sometimes I even do that myself....
(the reasons depend on the context) |

Doesn't count. You're expecting it now.

But it's a presumptuous response nevertheless. |

Do you ever while talking to someone ask them a question and they give the "everyone does this" answer instead of personally answering the question? That type of answer to me warrants a "type of person who goes along with the incrowd" whether the context is what they really feel is right or not. Not my style! JMHO |

Depending upon the context, that answer is mostly by the young and immature.

My problem with that particular answer if that I wonder if said person ever thinks for themselves and speaks from their own brain.

My problem with that particular answer if that I wonder if said person ever thinks for themselves and speaks from their own brain. I understand what you mean and I agree it can be very annoying IF the person has no personal interests or never initiates the conversation and when all they do...is some up with generalities. However...in my defense....maybe give them the benefit of doubt....(or not) In my case it simply is a question of time sometimes..or..it's a way of avoiding the question halfway politely... It can also simply be a way of showing you a mirror... |
