Definition of 'ego': "a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance.
synonyms: self-esteem, self-importance, self-worth, self-respect, self-image, self-confidence" People should get rid of their feelings of "self-esteem", "self-worth", "self-respect", etc., when coming to an online *dating* site?!? Oh. Wait. I can see how that would help many out when finding a date. Welcome and best of luck, OP!!! |

only one with egotism, would not know this is what OP was referring to...
per dictionary.com... egotism noun the practice of talking and thinking about oneself excessively because of an undue sense of self-importance. "in her arrogance and egotism, she underestimated Jill" synonyms: self-centeredness, egomania, egocentricity, self-interest, selfishness, self-seeking, self-serving, self-regard, self-love, narcissism, self-admiration, vanity, conceit, self-importance; boastfulness "Darla's egotism will always thwart her chances for a lasting relationship" |

get rid of ur ego before log in If you want "us" in your future, you definitely shouldn't be thinking "me" all the time. I wish you the best of luck to turn "me" into "us". Don't pay attention to us who are not looking to find "us" again. Every person has his/her own destiny. I am just a guest on this forum, not looking, meaning "us" wasn't an invitation of any kind. The best of luck to you and the others who are still searching. |

The psychoanalytical definition is not normally what psychological laymen think of when they hear/read the word "ego". |

The psychoanalytical definition is not normally what psychological laymen think of when they hear/read the word "ego". it seems technicality is what the egotist look at... people minus them self as more awesome than most and all, it seems look at most what the other person meant. seems only egotist live in a world where they strive to make them self "right", by constantly proving how other's are "wrong"... the self inferior who try to prove them self superior, to not ever have to feel inferior again. understandable. but these have then allowed them self to become the oppressors. no doubt, staring at wrong and right create a life of such unhappiness, these become bent on proving how all others are wrong, soon no matter what is spoken to them. until it gets so bad, one could say it was partly sunny, and they would prove how it is more "partly overcast"... hehehe... the meaning of the speaker is what matters in a world of problem solving and solutions and unity and caring... that is what i look and base things on. but of course... to each their own. smiles |
