How come when a guy sees you and gives you a compliment, he always has an escape route to keep you curious or wanting more?

I was walking from the garage the other week when i saw a guy looking for an energade. ( I think ) ... he looked at me once and then he looked at me again with an expression of ... well ... blankness and curiosity. before i could say hi or smile at him, he had already reached for the door.

i guess my question is? what is your guy's first option of a move if you see a girl you think is really hot or you might be interested to go out with?

and do you think its weird if a girl asks you out first?

what you just experienced is a typical nice shy guy reaction to seeing a beautiful woman. If you are attracted to him I'd definitely recommend either giving him some strong hints (look him in the eyes and smile) or taking the initiative to ask him out. It is the 21st century, nothing weird about asking a guy out. I feel you're a bit shy yourself?
