What about dating and friends?
People used to date and hang out with friends and fall in love in real life now it's all online and impressing people with your typing and smiley's and photos or webcams..even though divorce from online hook ups are more common..
What about finding employment?
People used to walk in looking for a job and make an impression face to face...now you have to apply for everything online and no one ever calls you back because they want a bachelors degree and 10 years experience just to work at a mcdonalds...

Things aren't what they used to be anymore..and everything is more shallow and more about money.

yes it is all.. backwards... back in the day.. I would see you from across the bar.. be attracted to you... screw up the courage to approach you... chat you up for a while.... hours... and then work up the nerve to ask for your phone number........ online... a lot of the time.. the first thing they ask you for is your phone number...lol...

Yes it's harder to get a date or a job online for the average person. It's free technology but it's misused. I can understand why some jobs and some relationships start online, but it's not useful for the general public.

there be no right, nor wrong, only mutual satisfaction, and the eater by nature will always be led by the feeder, as the feeder will always be deemed more important than those who it feed...

more and more in any society where how much one have, determine's the value accessed to each human.

if your not a feeder, get in line and shut up, will be the overwhelming pervasive mentality that guides civilizations mentality and so actions...

are there other opposite mentalities, of course, but it is only the MOST mentality that guide civilizations course through time.

the only way to truly change such mentality, so damaging to the betterment of all society it self, would be for all the buyers and eaters to all at one time stop buying and eating, but then, in a system as large as this one, direct force would be used to get buyers and eaters buying and eating again...

ole Sam Walton thought he him self was great, one of the greatest in his mind, so he structured all his systems like all others of the same mindset, building all his systems to make him self more great, NOT to help make the world a more equal and better more balanced place as some naively think.

but since eaters need to eat, and wanters do want, even fiercely, there's not a damn thing any mortal human being can or could do to change it.

wait until all the self great who bought up all the water and utilities rights begin their end game power plays...

than the great depression will look like childs play.

as the world falls apart, all try to GET for them self, the more.

I was thinking of things to add but you have covered everything and I agree with you 100%. I mean how hard is it to get up in the afternoon and apply for a job online? I liked it when you got up showed up early, applied for a job, looked someone in the eyes. The early bird got the worm.I guess I am old fashioned but that's me.As far as dating yes it was exciting and nervous to ask someone out in person looking them in the eyes, if they said no try to stay cool and say thank you any way, but if they say yes that initial rush is hard to beat.

Online is just an avenue to more exposure.

Eventually, you've still got to get dressed, show up, AND impress them in person and face-to-face,

regardless of the position you're trying out for.

If one's looking to land a job or a date/mate strictly online, one's probably going to be rejected a LOT.

This technology is taking us back to the dark ages.

whaaaat? Explain.

Your talking to a former IT tech, here.

There are like 250 people applying for one PT secretarial job here, or CNA or Kwik Trip cashiers. You don't think that's easier going through all the skills test online and automated for an employer to pick THE most uneducated stooge that they are able to control? whoops. lol

Acquiesce quieter, then.

Oh, and elsewhere.

This is now how - and where - I (go to) impress men and other potential position-holders.

Just because you can barely keep your resume under two pages, and have flawless spelling skills, you know you would be no where without werd processing and spell check. Lemme see your cover ltr.

there is no doubt that the on line job posting process is here to stay and it has some great advantages. ( hits a broader audience, funnels resumes back quickly, ect ect.)

The downside is that many companies ( like mine), immediately weed thru the resumes based on pure data and experience.. thus eliminating many candidates along the way.

In my experience, ( high skill positions excluded) some of the best people I have ever hired were not the most qualified for the job. My decision was based on the personal meeting I had with them, their demeanor and personality. How they seemed in our environment. and to some extend... gut feeling.

These are the things that are lost with the electronic version

I like the old way.. face to face.. then weed thru

I met my girlfriend in person and the best job I've ever had I got by asking the president personally.

The amount of technology in your life is a choice.

*president of the company. I do not know Barack.
