junior say attendant ...
Senior King and Queens to be in their high school homecomings ...

this is how it has changed from when I was picked ...

boys and girls that are now running for these spots...
have to raise $ to win ...
when I was in school some could just nominate you on a persons personality an the student in each grades pick who they wanted to... like just having a vote for them and won ...


now it is all based on $ ... personally why ? I as a adult may not even know ur kid or anyone's else that is running for this position... and have a can somewhere that people can fill like those you see for a family that someone is ill or have died or need that kind of help ... why would anyone want to make this something for $ I really don't get that there are other ways to raise $ for the kids then something like this... why don't they give it all back to the kids rights to just vote for who they like or even just the nomination too ... really feels so political like this having to raise $ for a candidate takes all the fun out of it... least I believe ...


what do you think as parents ...does this feel good or not
becouse in my thinking just so my kid would not loose... I would donate a lot to make sure they win ... and where does the other $ go to if they don't win ...the prom ... seems their are so many promotions in schools now they do why would that person have to be based on $ to win ...
I guess I fill when i put my cents in a can or bottle it is really going to someone that really needs this to pay for something like other things besides winning a vote ...

not sure when they started it but must have been long after I and others got voted in for this ... by the students ... not how much $ i brought in ...

I think with a little basil.. and the proper amount of seasoning....

just made me think about the supper bowl asking the musicians to pay to be able to do 1/2 time and thought that was wrong ... look at tom petty for instants he did not have to do that and was a nice surprise to everyone when he did for his fans ...

I can see other stuff for kids to raise the $ for what every their in ... but this seems a little over board for them ... now if the money they raise was for their own dresses and tucks and pictures ... that might be different ... but I am sure now... it goes toward the music and food and decorations at school ... maybe becouse not many go anymore and do not sell enough tickets for the night to get in to... kinda like the old way ... for the kids ... but times have changed ...
all about the $ now ... not about the kids ...

coming up, saturday mornings were the only time television had children's programming. the rest of the week, a child had to go outside to entertain themselves. now everything has to have censorship ratings so adults will know when/what to let their kids watch

momma didn't have to yell or spank you at the store, because there wasn't an end cap full of items right by the cash register begging kids to throw a tantrum if momma didn't get them a toy or candy. now there all whole stores dedicated to kids that let adults know how much of their household budget needs to go to entertaining their kids

if dad needed a truck for work, the truck was also the family vehicle. kids loaded up in the bed for a trip anywhere the whole family was going. now adults are being helped by strict laws designed to save kids by having to have them in car seats. dad's truck is for work, and momma has to have a kid friendly mini van, with built in car seats and television screens so the kids can be entertained

ah the times are a changing...

if you want to look at it that way it is pandering to the kids ...
these days ... and why so many are going to get hurt becouse they can not afford all to keep up with the times ... personally on what I said it has change since then with homecomings ... I remember my father complaining about the dress ...i had to get for it $... but don't know why I did not look second for it... when i was going second store anyway ... but know people do know this expense and help those that need if they want to go to the prom in these yrs ... but of course all advertizing tends to go toward children and even those old cartoon ones we use to watch ... still had commercials...
