What lies beneath these deep waters of the lake
Is very much a mystery make no mistake.
For the whispering trees and the vines stretching across
The deep velvet cover of the ancient moss.


Fishermen telling tales of the mystery down below
Strange hissing noises from high to low.
What lies beneath these deep waters of the lake
Is it a strange fish or a unusual type of snake.


But beauty in it's splendour fills over the shimmering water
As the heron looks on and the carp never alter.
Many visitors come and look to see
What lies beneath deep down in with the reeds.


A glimpse they want as cameras at the ready
Keeping very still and calm and steady.
But this time no strange sightings or noises had occurred
Only the woodpecker can be heard.


So what lies beneath a mystery yet too be solved
But such great stories so many are told.
