I saw you,
Walking in the rain Shrunken Wrinkle and worn, Hardly recognized your face In that struggle to escape Your distress That cancerous disease, I remember you waved With the withering arm Of your pale overcoat Of organic flesh, You were my brother, My sister, my father, my mother, A fierce courageous warrior Who battled for life For a thousand days, But heroes Seldom return From war, Just ghost of friends Family loved-ones We remember With each passing year. This poem is dedicated to the memory of my brother Thomas, and all those who lost their battle against cancer. |
