Hi Goldenstar, you wrote:

Yes, it's 2007 and homosexuals are still forced from or denied housing. Many must lie, and hide in order to keep thier jobs, and some loose thier jobs when they are found out. So it is 2007, and women and men are denied custody or visitation of their own children, when the courts discover they are gay. I think asking what people think about homosexuals is a good thing to be asking, because after all, it is 2007 and for some reason, homosexuals are still not entitled to benefit from the same laws that everyone else is. |

You wrote: "... when is there gonna be a post about what we think bout heterosexuals???? honestly this is a stupid forum it's 2007..." The fish is truly bothered when you take it out of the water, but it is the only way for it to realize that there is WATER!!! It is said that nothing exist until it is distinguished inside of or against some other part. ... conversely, and more importantly, it MIGHT realize that water is nothing other than ONE small part of a whole. No more, and no less importance! I thought of this metaphor when I read the first part of your inspired message: "... when is there gonna be a post about what we think bout heterosexuals????" I thought you would appreciate it. Also, I hope you will forgive my limited abilities, but could you please expand on the no less inspired, I'm sure, 2nd part of your message where you bring up this very refined concept of 'stupid' forum?!?!? Your explanations on the most nebulous term 'stupid' would be sincerely appreciated. Looking forward to your reply. |

Hi Jtevans and Undertherose,
Jt wrote: "Arguing over this is truly pointless! i'm not taking sides with anyone but someday y'all are going to be dead and where is this going to get you?nowheres!.as i said in another post, when it comes to religion, people have strong beliefs and it's their own beliefs and yours isn't going to change theirs so why argue?y'all just wasting space!" To which it seem Undertherose agreed. But here's the truely amazing think about learning to discuss issues in which there is opposition. In this way people learn to communicate. We've all lost our cool at some point, but many of those who have been here a while, debating such topics, have learned to that loosing your temper is what really gets you "nowheres". Learning to maintain your cool, learning to find ways to support your argument, logically is a learning process that you won't learn in school. Some people have opinions and will gladly voice loud and clear, and will even get upset when they can no longer argue the reason for their opinions. That's why it's important to continue to rehash. It gives people time to think, to reflect and to research, on their own. As long at there is dischord in society, there has to be discussion. This is the only and best way to come to an understanding and then to find common ground for solutions. Read, participate, read again, create a defense, read again, create a strategy. Your communication will improve, as will your ability for logical thought, and research and above all, your horizon, will expand. Mine has - If there is a person still posting that has been here for many months, I can't imagine any of them saying that is not true. So come grow with us - we all have so much to learn, and learning is never a waste of time. |

Wow. That's a lot of points to ponder in one small post for me... "Where will it get us?" Well, I think the point in fighting any kind of bigotry is twofold; First, to make sure that those who are being discriminated against are treated fairly. This is basic and essential to me. All humans in this country (and ideally world wide) should have the basic rights guarenteed by the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Right. In this case "the pursuit of happiness" would, to me, cover the right to marry another adult human of ones choice. Secondly, I think it is worthwhile always to try to see, and help others to see when possible, not how we as people are different but how we are the same. Not what divides or seperates us but what unites and unifys us. Do I want us to be clones? Absolutely not (except for Abra who is allowed to create a female clone to be his life companion but that is another story). I know that people are different and this makes life more interesting. But no matter how different I am from another human I want to remember that we are still similar in many ways. And as for not being able to change any minds and therefore wasting my time? I don't believe that either... I have been able to change the minds of others and they have been able to teach me things that made me rethink and reexamine as well... peoples minds are not cement... they are flexible and for me these discussions help keep mine flexible as well... And BTW to me I'm not "arguing" with anyone (in my mind) in this post. I'm just discussing my thoughts and opinions which will differ from those of some here and coincide with others here and may possibly make some think a bit differently... or maybe not... Either way I don't feel that I am wasting my time. I enjoy the interchange. Because I do think life is precious and time is limited (one of the things I have in common with all other humans)... so I wouldn't "waste my time" if I didn't care about the issue. |

I don't know Jenni, but I just got permission to make a clone.
I'm off to the lab! |

OOooooo a clone can you make one of me too James???? I think the world needs 2 of me!!
|

My server disappeared right after that post so I never got any crompets!!! I'm contemplating starting a thread about the inadequacies of the cable company in response...
But no, life is precious- that would truly be a waste of time... Abra, I can't wait to see what your clone has to say... and I think the world would be blessed to have 2 cherub poets... as for me I prefer to remain a singularity. |
