How does fitting in feel?
Is it the rush of satisfaction,
That my intuition,
Tells me it would be?

What does it feel like to be popular?
Is it the gratifying high,
A consensus confirmation of acceptance,
If even for a fleeting moment,
That it appears to me?

What does it feel like
To have even a small group
Of close friends?
Is it the source of joy and support,
A sense of extended family,
That I think I've gleaned?

How does it feel
To be touched by someone-
With desire?
Is it the ecstatic connection
Of two points of light
From the same source
Being beamed?

I'm without experience;
I don't know for sure
How these things feel.

I do know how isolation feels.

I know how it feels
To feel overlooked...
Ignored...

It hurts terribly!
A pain that I often abhor...
Yet oddly appreciate.

Appreciate because the years of solitude,
Observing from the periphery,
Has allowed me,
A more objective point of view.

I know how it feels
To be grateful
For the experiences I have had;
Good and bad.
I try to view them as a privilege,
A lesson learned-
Unslanted.
Not take them for granted.
This I try to do.

Do you?

Pain teaches us so much more than joy

I think my beautiful mind has absorbed all the lessons pain has to teach me. Oh how I wish she'd introduce me to her much more pleasant sister Joy! My hurting heart and soul sure could use a little.

Thanks again Leigh. flowers

Your words really spoke to me and moved me.. I truly hope you find what you are looking for and that life shows you the simple pleasure of joy.. I have known far too much pain yet it is the joys I have experienced that I remember most and I wish that for you aswell.. flowerforyou

Thank you very much Nickyjeanne, for your compassionate wise reminder to reflect on the times of joy during our moments of hurt.

May we all experience a little joy in our hearts every day! flowerforyou

This one caught my attention from the first line. As a recovering introvert myself I was hit with a sense of recognition all the way through.

I'll also say you are braver than you realize just to put your work out there. I know that's hard. As an artist myself I know that we have to put our heart and soul into our work or it's not art. Then you have to put it out there for any one to take shots at it.

Take credit where credit is due. This is a good piece of writing. I look forward to seeing more of your work.-Greg
