I was just wondering today...

There's a guy I'm interested in who's also interested in me. We've talked on the phone once and that's it, but I am interested in meeting him. Now, he tells me that he's allergic to cats and my problem is that my cat is my baby. Without my cat, I might not be around today.

So, it got me thinking (for those of you who have been in a similar situation), is it possible to compromise? What precautions can be made for people in a relationship? My cat is very much like my son- he's loving and knows more about my emotions than most people do. Is it possible for a cat lover to date someone who's allergic to cats?

yep. depends on the level of the allergy.

i had to learn how to wash one daily who had almost never
gotten wet before in her life! what a riot. and she was
one tough kittie tooo. vets wouldn't touch her.



you can exile them to a certain part of the house.
you can give them to a close friend and just visit often
(i'm not saying if i'm talking about the guy or the cat)

you can keep very clean if the allergy level is not too bad...

there are some options. but if the allergy is severe the
options are very limited.

easier to just go get a guy who loves cats!!!

someone who doesn't like cats or who might be
allergic, that would be awful...but...maybe there's
a reason God doesn't want this man in your life.

Lots of things you can do. My sister-in-law is severely allergic but she knows my brother's love of pets. She's got prescription allergy meds and gets shots. Now that's love!

You don't like cats or can't be around them...thats a sign your not the one for me!! I love my kitty and she is not going anywhere!!

There are things one can take for their allergies to cats.

If they refuse to take something for it- well than they are'nt

Motevia, did you put in your profile that you had a cat? if not did it come up at any time while you were messaging each other?
Just because you want to meet know doesn't mean the cats gotta go because this guy is moving in, right? Maybe you can find somewhere else for the guy to stay while he visits? Is it really safe for this guy to be in your place? do you really know? but If so, clean up real good, vacuum the rugs and furniture, air the place out and have him pick up some claritin or other over the counter allergy med. I mean surely you shouldn't be the one making all of the sacrifice for this meeting to take place. He should be willing to do something, right? he can buy a couple of pills, or he can be happy to find a motel nearby.
