i know of a 18 year old boy that wont get off his butt to do anything and sleeps 14 hours a day as well as stay on the computer and eat everything in the house. anyone ever had this problem before??

yep my oldest son who is now 21, married, kid and works his behind off 50 hrs a wk, has never missed a day of work in 2 yrs (except for vacation time) and is finishing his college degree. he's the best husband and father...surprised the S#%% out of me...

that sounds like a good hard working young man. this young man im talking about does nothing at all and i have never seen anything like this in my life. he doent do anything around the house to help his mother and he will never get a job and thats such a waste. its a big deal if he gets up by 3 in the afternoon and when he does he gets on the computer and playes some kind of games on it and watches the t.v. which is right next to his bed and computer. i guess its his mothers problem now becouse shes going to have to support his lazy butt.

i never made him get a job and just gave him everything...after graduation i though...oops, i have made a terrible mistake, but when that summer was over he did a 360. he and his family were visiting with me this wkend and his friends called and wanted him to go out with them, but he didn't want to....i volunteered to babysit of course, his wife went with her friends for a while, but T just wanted to hang out w/me and his daughter...we laughed and laughed and i was teasing him about what a lazy no good mofo he was during his teens...he just grinned and gave me a bear hug...

Has he been checked to see if there's depression involved? Sounds classic from what you've said. But, if not, sounds like some tough love is needed. My older brother did the same thing, though there were drugs involved as well. My mom finally just laid down the law, job, rent, and help out or move out. He moved out, best thing that ever happened to him.

i think kids are very spongelike, they absorb what they are around...during his teens he called me his personal atm machine, but he saw me go to work every single day, which i've got to jump in the shower now and then get my 15 yr old up who sits at the computer playing wow 14 hrs a day, eats all our food, is too lazy to turn in homework that he's already done...have a good day, b

Hmmm, BGeorge, my son does his homework and doesn't turn it in either! I don't get that, I'd rather he didn't do it at all (not telling him that, though). His teachers say it's not uncommon!

yeah suzin, igot a call at work mon from his english teacher saying he got a 98 on the test from friday and she just wanted to let me know because "no one ever gets 98 on my tests"...i asked about his homework and she said she wanted to keep this a positive conversation...go figure...good luck with yours :)

yes...i think its somewhat like adults the things that they pick and choose to do. and yes he was just at the doctors 2 times in the last month and the tests all came back just fine. i would have to say his mother lets him get away with him being so lazy.

mine is 15......lazy too, sleeeeps alot, but at that age they actually need that much sleep, says the medical journals. Its in their development.

Now, if this same kid at 18 is living under the same roof, not going to school or working, then you have a problem.

now if he was 28 i'd be concerned...but 18 is just a child...maybe he's a late bloomer and is a little scared to out into the big bad world...

HAHA welcome to my world!! I am thankful that my son is going to his classes at college though. I just think thats how todays generation is...I think we give them to damn much. Yep I do blame us parents.
I do believe that they will grow out of it...esp when we get tired of them laying around and kick their lazy butts out of the house. My son is living away now and going to college so I think he is learning that he has to get up and get moving on his own.
I have learned one thing from this...make my younger kid do more and he is suffering now. I won't let him lay around the house like I did my older one!!

I can sure relate! wathcing that little BIMBO sister of mine "barbie" supporting that DUD boytoy "ken". She would drive him alllllll around town, in that nasty pink cadillac of hers whilst he was thinkin he was puff daddy or a pimp ridin around, going NO WHERE with his life. I got SO SICK of watching barbie supporting this wanna be MANTOY i finally gathered up ALL their stuff, took them both hostage, now they sit in my attic, hog tied and duct taped em...oh mattel did NOT wanna pay the ransom note so i am STUCK with them both. Thank god i dont have SKIPPER!!!
