With a boulder on my shoulder,
feelin' kinda older, I tripped the merry-go-round With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin, the calliope crashed to the ground Manfred Mann - Blinded By The Light Lyrics | MetroLyrics Actually written by Bruce Springsteen. |

know you know someone that has a negative vibe,
and if you're trying to make it they only push you aside. They really don't have, nowhere to go. Ask them where they're going, they don't know. But we won't let nothin' hold us back, we're gonna put our selves together, we're gonna polish up our act! And if you've ever been held down before, I know you'll refuse to be held down anymore! There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb. Pink Floyd |

Dedicated to a silent one on here:
Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone They'll stone you when you are walking home They'll stone you and then say you are brave They'll stone you when you are set down in your grave But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned. Rainy Day Woman 12 & 35 |

I don't believe in superstars
Organic food and foreign cars I don't believe the price of gold The certainty of growing old That right is right and left is wrong That north and south can't get along That east is east and west is west And bein' first is always best. But I believe in love I believe in babies I believe in mom and dad And I believe in you. "I believe in you "~ Don Williams |

Lines from songs sometimes ring through our minds and is largely what makes a thread like this fun. You hear or remember a song, and then get to share a memory of who wrote the words.
I have always been a big fan of Bob Dylan. I punched up the a website that had his lyrics and was amazed at how many of the songs he wrote were made famous by others. The level of his poetry talent is outstanding! May God bless and keep you always May your wishes all come true May you always do for others And let others do for you May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung May you stay forever young Forever young, forever young May you stay forever young. May you grow up to be righteous May you grow up to be true May you always know the truth And see the lights surrounding you May you always be courageous Stand upright and be strong May you stay forever young Forever young, forever young May you stay forever young. May your hands always be busy May your feet always be swift May you have a strong foundation When the winds of changes shift May your heart always be joyful And may your song always be sung May you stay forever young Forever young, forever young May you stay forever young. Interestingly, The Rod Stewart version borrows heavily from Dylan's lyrics but is a song credited to Rod Stewart. That's music for ya! I lost count of how many modern artists have recorded their versions of this song... shades of the Beatles' "Yesterday". |

You were handsome
You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing "Galway Bay" And the bells were ringing out For Christmas day Pogues, Fairytale of New york |

Just think of all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed So many lonely faces scattered all around Searching for what they need. Is this the world we created What did we do it for Is this the world we invaded Against the law So it seems in the end Is this what we're all living for today The world that we created. You know that everyday a helpless child is born Who needs some loving care inside a happy home Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne Waiting for life to go by. Is this the world we created, we made it on our own Is this the world we devasted, right to the bone If there's a God in the sky looking down What can he think of what we've done To the world that He created. Queen 1984. Yep I know its a full song but still Poignant even more so today |
