When I was married: If neither of us were working on the weekend and if I woke up before her, I would make her breakfast and serve it to her in bed. This generally resulted in a stream of criticisms verging on a shouting match. I spent the other night at a friends house, in the morning I made her breakfast and served it to her in bed. Later, when she came out of the bedroom with her plate, she looked at me and said, why are you so good to me?
I thought to myself- that's better than getting yelled at. Sometimes you have to find the places you fit into best. |

What were you serving your wife for breakfast that she criticized you about?

What were you serving your wife for breakfast that she criticized you about? I gave her what I was making the kids: eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice; normally she would have a bowl of some kiddie sugar-coated cereal with 7-10 spoons of added sugar on it. But the point is how much better one feels when your normal behaviour is accepted and appreciated. |
