We have a radio at work, play a station that has little talk and low key tunes. THEN yesterday there they were, commercials from poloticians - all with the same message -
THEY want us to quit. To say it was all a lie. Don't let the lives lost have been in vein. Call or email your representitves now and tell them to you want us to finish what they started, we can win this war. & this THEY DID ATTACK us, THEY started this war and now some want us to run away. THEY will not stop and we shouldn't either. Contact your representatives now and tell them you believe in our actions. & this Don't let 9/11 be just another tragedy. It did happen and we know why. To stop our efforts now would be an act of cowardice. Contact your representitives now and tell then we're not afraid. OMG - I WAS MAD AS HELL ALL F'N DAY LONG. I could not believe that POLOTICIANS were endorsing this SHt. I spent two hours today, composing letters to Bush, Cheny, my own congressmen, senators. I can't believe this. Has anyone else heard these horrible 'commercials'? I got replies from the office of the Pres and V.P. - of course they were staple - thanks, sorry the Pres / VP can't respond personally, but we care and our staff will give your email every attention. Of course I knew that was what would happen, but this is the first time I havn't gotten responces from my Representitives. Where's the 60's and 70's now - where are the masses? Like me sitting at their computer, writing emails into cyberspace. HOW DO WE EVEN KNOW, that when laws are passed, they really are based on the majority????? |

I think its funny Redy. It just goes to show you how desperate they are, the minority, that want to keep this war going! They see the numbers, 70% want the war to end, and they are grasping in desperation!
They are so blind they cant believe what they are seeing. Not wanting to believe, they are in fact a minority, they are grasping for straws! They are flailing around on the floor calling for help, help that will never come. It only makes them look desperate, but they have reelection to think about! They supported Bush with blind, stupid, greedy loyalty and know it has cost them their cushy jobs with tax-payer health insurance and 3 months of vacation every year. All the Democrats need are 12 republicans, and the war will end. With more and more jumping the neo-con ship they are hoping to keep them in line, to sway their opinion back to the rank and file. Eight years of the idiots of lies, voting against the American peoples wishes is coming to an end. A failed end!!! |

If you folks would stop pointing fingers for a moment and think...this war isn't Bushs doing. It started well before he took office. Now for those sitting behind their pc and moaning and crying and digging up crap web pages...if it bothers you so bad do something about it! Do what Red done...write Washington, but no, all you guys wanna do is surf the web looking for negatives when you should be doing something positive. I don't agree with what the President is doing at the moment, but I also don't point my finger and say it's his fault. We can't just up and walk out of Iraq... what's done is done. We have to stay the course otherwise the world will be run over with idiots like Bin Laden. As far as Iran having nukes? NO they shouldn't be allowed nukes, but at the same time nobody should including ourselves. We're headed for WW3 and I don't think nothing can stop it.

Redykeulous,
I agree. It's madness to continue this war just to keep the contractors, war profiteers and George Bush & Company in business. I also agree with Fanta. The majority of the public want to see this war end someday, not just go on endlessly. Expect a Republican meltdown in 2008 as almost nobody except right-wing wackos vote for any of these losers. And deservedly so. While Al Quaida grows stronger in Afghanistan and other places, we have most of our troops and resources tied up in Iraq. Very inefficient way to fight a war on terror. Don't believe all the slogans they like to throw out, like 'stay the course', 'don't cut and run', etc... It makes me sick how much Republican politicians throw these useless phrases around. They mean nothing. And most of these politicians have never been in the military. In fact, did all they could to avoid it. And now they're trotting out wounded soldiers to make statements supporting the war. So what is this saying? If you don't support the war, you don't support our wounded veteran's wishes, therefore you are unpatriotic? I'm sure there are plenty of wounded veterans out there who are against this war and want it to end. Or at least see light at the end of the tunnel so that they can know their sacrifices were worth something. ![]() |

Why of course the people dont want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece?..Naturally the common people dont want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany . That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country. .... Hermann Goering.

Ok - at least I got a laugh out of Spiders comments, too funny guy, and I mean that in kindness.
Here's what really gets me,now that I'm cooler. First of all, these politicians are paying for this air time - not cheap. The way I look at it, it's more like they're investing in an advertisement, in the hopes of drumming up more votes. I'm not against that, it's their money. What I am against is the way they present their plea. They are not promoting awareness, there's no information provided, and they are purposely striking the heart strings of America by pointing to the lives lost. This strategy serves one purpose, that I can see. There is a huge number of American people, whose awareness of politics, the war, the economy, is limited to what time they spend watching TV and maybe, talking with friends. We know how informative TV is. Basically there are two catagories of people these adds are focused on. These are the "no-shows" in the battle arena. They are secure in their jobs, raising their families, taking their vacations and as long at they are unaffected they don't look beyond the the car they drive to get to work. Then there are those with limitations, either by literacy, or restricted financially. These people don't have computers, might not even have jobs, maybe because of handicaps their mobility is restricted. For these poeple there is only the words they hear. I think these politician know exactly what they are doing. They are getting to those people who do not express a view, who are non-committal, middle of the road. I see these people every day, I talk with these people at work. I can see them listening to this propaganda, and even though I put my job at risk, I have to address it. I've had a couple good conversations with the folks as they stood in line. What I found is that those who have knowledge are just as disgusted with the hype as I am, but those who were the "non-committal" are beginning to voice opinion, based of the Cowboy and Indian mentality. So this is how politics works. So this, finally, is the reason for the "dumbing up" of America. Finally, an issue that calls for a response from the unheard, uncaring part of society. And it is solicited by those with money and power and a need to reclaim lost votes. It is indeed sad when the sleeping are awakened and called to action by nothing more than a tug on the heart string and jab to the ego. It's not the heart that moves these people, it's the ego that was dormant and has now been challenged. E D U C A T I O N. We must all become teacher now. |

Speaking of being teachers,
I've printed some articles and legal agenda and other political information over the last year. I take them to parties, gatherings and let others read so we can discuss. It usually breaks down as there is more interest in maintaining civility, but at least there is information out there, and questions in people minds and, I guess, my hope is that I've gotten to the sleeping sheep before this propaganda has. |

Of course, look for more Republicans to jump from the Bush ship. More and more of them are realizing the damage Bushco. has done to the "Grand Ol' Party". 2008 is, for all intents and purposes, lost to them. They're finding out that unless they do something, and fast, the Republican Party will be damaged beyond repair.

Hey, Forge, if you can stop tryin' to take Foxworthy's job for a minute and comprehend this, I'll let you in on a little secret. Did I ever say I was happy with what Bush and his "inner circle" are doing to the Republican Party? Since you're MUCH farther to the right than I am(you're MUCH farther to the right than anyone here, I believe), you should be more outraged than anyone. Hell, I voted for Reagan twice. I thought, by and large, he was a good President. I don't want to see either party "totally in charge". That throws the checks and balances system way off kilter, regardless of the party in charge. You claim to be a proud Republican. A truly proud Republican SHOULD be interested in saving his party, instead of cheerleading for the group who's destroying it from within.
Oh, sorry, I don't speak Farsi. I do speak three languages(English, German, and Italian),but never bothered to learn Farsi. Sorry to disappoint you ![]() |
