Topic: Everyone's Offended | |
---|---|
Someone is offended that a patriot wears a flag pin While another is offended that some believe gay is a sin Some are offended that they didn't get the promotion to boss And yet others are offended over the wearing of a cross Some may be offended over a show about pregnant teens while others are offended you don't like Charlie sheen This list could go on for days and days Because "I'm offended" it seems is very popular to say The truth is someone is always going to be offended But often that is not what the person intended The perceived victims are often very loud And they are masters of rallying a crowd They focus on changing the behavior of everyone else Instead of focusing on changing themselves Many people will cower and fold It is what is right, or so they are told But let's take an imaginary journey shall we? There was a businessman dressed in Coat and plaid Tie While walking he runs across a farmer, who says he's offended over the man’s tie... "Plaid should be for those that work the land" "I'm sorry" he quickly replies and promptly removes his tie As he continues on his way he meets a woman with no arms, who is offended that his coat has sleeves Again he replies "I’m sorry, I didn't know" so he promptly rips off his sleeves and continues on his way While continuing his journey he meets another businessman along the way, he expresses his offense over the mans Shredded coat and shirt, so the business man again apologizes and removes remainder of his coat and shirt And once again continues his walk, he runs across a man with no feet who is offended he is wearing shoes, So yet again he removes his shoes, this pattern continues until the man is walking around completely naked and now Every person he sees is offended that he would dare to walk around in such a state, he doesn't seem to understand He tried not to offend anyone only to result in offending everyone! The moral of the story is, if you try to please everyone you will end up pleasing no one, stand by your beliefs, Don't insult people directly, but if it is a perceived offense, it is not your job to change their perceptions, it is their Job to change their own perception. The only thing you can do is change yourself, but remember only change yourself if it is Something YOU want to change about yourself, NEVER change yourself because someone ELSE told you too, for if you change for everyone else, you will lose who you truly are. Case in point, if you saw a man walking around naked would you know he was a businessman? |
