I need a date, also.
I'm thinking a nice dinner somewhere, and maybe a movie . Sure sounds better than what I'll probably be doing....... McDonald's with a newspaper, and watching a movie alone on DVD . |

McDonalds and a newspaper? I thought that was just for us single moms!!

Mickey D's knows no gender . At least the employees don't stare and laugh behind your back when you're eating there alone.

Well, Let me share from my vast experience with eating out alone....
The way to keep them from laughing is to show them you are enjoying yourself!! Who gives a darn what the little snobs think??? What? we are not allowed to eat out at nice restraunts because we are alone? I think NOT!!! |

Hi Hotandspicey ,
The "finer" restaurants don't like waiting on single diners because they figure the more people, the bigger the tip. Trust me, having worked in the industry, it usually doesn't happen that way. Tough luck fer the wait staff. Maybe the staff feels bad because I'm eating alone. Too bad they don't feel bad enough to pick up the tab ! |

Hey now that is Not the way to look at it!! My money is just as good as the next persons, and may God help the waiter or waitress that chooses to make me feel otherwise!! My oldest daughter works in an upscale Restraunt in Scottsdale, and believe me, they treat everyone like visiting royalty or else!! |

Hey, Hotandspicey ,
They don't ignore a solo person because they're unattached. They do because they think they'll leave less of a tip than a group. For all they know, the person dining alone could be married with 4 kids. Now try timeshare cabin rentals if you want to experience REAL discrimination against single people. And the sad thing is(I talked to an attorney)it's all legal! |

A date is when a man asks you to go out alone with him somewhere and we go shopping beforehand for the perfect outfit to wear and agonize over whether our butt looks too big, and try on hundreds of out fits in dozens of stores and generally work up a sweat, before finally spending every last dime we have and then some that we didn't, and then when the big night arrives we powder, press, shave and curl and put on make-up we forgot we had and usually high heels and run our nylons and have to bribe our teenagers to go to the store for new ones and they get the wrong size, so we end up not wearing any anyway, and then our date arrives and we trip while making our entrance and drop our purse with everything falling out, and bump heads when our date tries to help retrieve the fallen items and finally we get out the door and in the car and .......

OMG Knox!!
An Attorney? Like, at a bar? it was free right? |

I used to manage a restaurant in downtown Knoxville, TN. I became friends with a few attorneys and asked a couple of them about the legalities of timeshare cabins in Gatlinburg, TN., refusing to rent to single people. Both lawyers told me that that was well within the cabin company's rights.
Hope that cleared that up, Hotandspicey |
