Blackphone claims to be first NSA-proof smartphone

The global conversation about privacy is in high gear, and services for private and secure messaging have been popping up everywhere to try to meet demand. But most consumers aren't in a position to evaluate whether these services can actually deliver on their promises, and the companies themselves may not be aware of things they're missing.

Now a new smartphone called Blackphone is taking a stab at "prioritising user privacy" and creating an entire ecosystem.

Blackphone comes from cryptographer Phil Zimmermann, whose company Silent Circle is partnering with Spanish start-up Geeksphone for the project.

A good question might be.....

Now that the NSA (govt) has decided to spy on EVERYONE, including its own people (and got caught), in violating the peoples rights they are creating a market for techno toys that defeat their ability to do so..... even for events that might warrant it!

With the world working against them for such technologies, and there are a lot of brilliant minds out there NOT working for the govt, how safe can they actually claim to make us in the future now against real threats to our national security?

They have shot themselves in the foot, and again, will the people be the ones to pay for it?

"MR. PRESIDENT AND GENTLEMEN OF THE CONVENTION: If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could better judge what to do, and how to do it. We are now far into the fifty year since a policy was initiated with the avowed object and confident promise of putting and end to slavery agitation. Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only not ceased, but has constantly augmented. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crises shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other. Either the opponents of slavery will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become alike lawful in all the States, old as well as new, North as well as South.

Have we no tendency to the latter condition?

Let any one who doubts carefully contemplate that now almost complete legal combination -- piece of machinery, so to speak -- compounded of the Nebraska doctrine and the Dred Scott decision. Let him consider not only what work the machinery is adapted to do, and how well adapted; but also let him study the history of its construction, and trace, if he can, or rather fail, if he can, to trace the evidences of design and concert of action among its chief architects, from the beginning."

~ Abraham Lincoln

There are many diverse forms or chains of slavery.....

HISTORY DOES REPEAT ITSELF! Hopefully NOT with the same results.....brother against brother.

The POTUS gives his address today on the NSA spying machine. Which side of the table will he stand? With the Constitution, for liberty and the people, or lie, and simply offer longer chains of restraint?

I think I already know the answer..... what is your opinion?

Silent Circle actually appears to be a decent alternative group opposing such actions..... from my readings and understanding.

Being an "outsider", and possessing knowledge I tend to agree with for the most part laugh , I would like to hear your take on what I stated above Con.

So there you have it!

What I heard was "If you like your insurance you can keep it! Period!" or maybe "I did not have sexual relations with that woman!".

Either way, the fox is already in the hen house with the same dogs guarding the door!

Like a pregnant woman who can't just be unscrewed, or not expected to give birth in the end without be aborted!

The man has lied to the nation at every turn, so now we are expected to believe things are going to change.....without changing a thing!

RIGHT! slaphead

No such thing as NSA proof. Where did they buy their chip technology, a corporation? Bet they didn't grow their own silicone.

Lipservice to the constitution, screw the people and liberty, definitely all lies, and make all the sheeple believe being a slave is good for them.

And then everyone will jump up and down and applaud. Those that don't will be racist and a member of the Tea Party.
