I think people confuse whether a person is 'likable' or perfector never did anything wrong,,,,,with whether they do their job,,,,

nothing new in that common conufusion,,

I Think they say ignorant things, but if they are getting the ratings their employer should be able to keep them, or conversely, if they are losing or risking losing the employer money, they should be able to let them go (as long as its for some reason that is under the employees control,, like their speech or dress,,etc)

I think there is social responsibility too, that if the persons are using a national or international medium to provoke or encourage people to do physical harm to others,, its legally and socially responsible to pull them,, but I don't know of this group going that far with their opinions,,,

Interesting, people who have worked for me consistently called me a ball-buster, but their favourite boss. However, the people I worked for thought I was crap; probably because, ethically, my first duty is to my clients, not the company. I was the reason we got new clients every year, when I left, they lost half their caseload.

I would tell my staff what we did needed Social Validity, in that if someone observed us, would they think we did good or bad. I think eality TV as a Sociological/Anthropological study- you observe someone in their natural environment. But you OBSERVE, attempting to change what you report or how people behave is not the role.

Your idea of reality TV being a study would be more true if so much of it wasn't scripted or edited in a way that creates drama and leaves you feeling that the crap you just watched was so fake or unreal that it should be a soap opera instead. hahaha

I agree! Apart from the football ( soccer ) here in Britain, I find myself watching UK Gold even more, for decent programmes that weren't PC correct like Only Fools and Horses, Bottom, The Sweeney, etc, as the programmes on now are crap and just not funny anymore! Like Lizard Lick Towing, Duck Dynasty and Moonshiners, from the US though!

the government is NOT Involved

this is an employer, paying a person for a certain task or tasks, who gets to outline what they will pay them for or not

freedom of speech doesn't mean I have to continue to employ you no matter how you speak or what you say,,,it means CONGRESS cannot make a law saying that NOONE can speak certain things or EVERYONE MUST speak certain things,,

this is not a FREEDOM OF SPEECH issue, it isn't about congress, its an employer/employee situation,,

Perhaps you should read more.

There are exceptions to the "freedom of speech clause" and one of them is "intentional infliction of emotional distress" which the Gay group told A&E had occurred. A&E responded (according to them) to protect the rights of the gay groups.

You can review these "Freedom of Speech" issues on Wikipedia.

Much of the uproar over the Ducks issue is "Who gets to decide what is offensive to whom?" and it appears the politically correct crowd thinks it is them.

The other big issue is not what is offensive, it is what one group can silence another group from saying. And once again, it is the gays and others who scream to be heard on ANYTHING they want to say but want the right to silence others under the exception to the "Freedom of Speech" clause of the US Constitution.

In other words, you just yell "Hate Crime" at the top of your lungs for it to be a matter addressed by the Government.

I don't care what official reason is given, the bottom line is, IF I am paying someone from 9-5 to do a certain job, I have the freedom to keep them employed or let them go, according to my standard for the job

period

noone has threatened to arrest the person, he is in no danger of going to jail, no one has charged anyone with a hate crime,

he is FREE to choose a different employer, just like the employer is FREE to continue his contract,,,or not

nothing to do with congress or law, but with the FREE MARKET and the employers power to employ or fire under whatever (controllable) conditions they choose to,,,,

There is no such thing as a "free market" anymore. The big corporations have pretty much done away with that.

But there is always a motive behind the scripted/corporate news.......

The market is a democracy in which every penny gives a right to vote. It is true that the various individuals have not the same power to vote. The richer man ...casts more ballots than the poorer fellow. But to be rich and to earn a higher income is, in the market economy, already the outcome of the previous election.
The only means to acquire wealth and to preserve it, in a market economy not adulterated by government-made privileges and restrictions, is to serve the consumers in the best and cheapest way.
Capitalists and landowners who fail in this regard suffer losses. If they do not change their procedure, they lose their wealth and become poor. It is the consumers who make poor people rich and rich people poor." --Ludwig von Mises

they should stop offending themselves by their actions before asking others not to offend them because of the same actions they are responsible for !

You watch programmes on the BBC channels then, as they don't show commercials on those channels in the UK!

I give credit for honesty, for sure. People also have to understand that when you are under someone elses employment, they are going to look after their interests.

the GAC channel is probably not going to be able to put on a show featuring the 2 live crew,, for instance..lol. Networks have sponsors, sponsors pay their bills, sponsors have consumers that prefer certain demographics and forms of entertainment.

IF this is the environment of their employer, their employers sponsors and audience,

that they cant be openly Christian, they should certainly be shopping around for other options themselves.

Dog the Bounty Hunter was under A & E's employment and there was praying and talking about god in every episode but that was never bleeped out.

This is a witch hunt. None of this came up before the Robertsons revealed they were Republicans and helped several Republicans get elected this past election.

I think it was all about the left wing trying to silence any voices but their own.
