Topic: gay marriage creates bigamy opportunity | |
---|---|
Wow...a gay man/woman could marry in a state that recognizes gay marriage and then also marry a heterosexual in another state legally if that state doesn't recognize gay marriage...
http://news.yahoo.com/north-dakota-says-man-same-sex-marriage-may-233235900.html excerpt : "a part of the Defense of Marriage Act says states need not recognize a same-sex marriage formed in another state in finding that a marriage license could be issued even if the same-sex marriage was not dissolved." |

bigamy laws will be found unconstitutional eventually anyway
we have created a standard where any adult citizen should be permitted the freedom to 'marry' anyone else that is a consenting adult,,,,,don't know how one can legally justify preventing people from having multiple spouses if those spouses agree,,, |

the govt is of the people, by the people and for the people
and in that scope, I do understand why its significant for the government to find a way to encourage prospective mothers and fathers to commit to each other,, for all the statistics that point to many more obstacles when children don't have that in place however, since it has stepped over into a question of what other benefits such couplings get,, it leaves the door open to totally obliterate that purpose and just become a validation of ones choice of relationship by government,, which I think is silly and destructive to the purpose above so, being marriage is about what benefits come with it, it may be time for government to step out of it and let people do what they are going to do without encouraging or discouraging anything,,,, |

Gov't is control. next they will be telling us "who" we can marry for the betterment of our lives..... probably under the guise of stopping birth defects or some other theory that fits their agenda Gov't has always created a problem then offered a solution to get control over it Just look around! |

Gov't is control. next they will be telling us "who" we can marry for the betterment of our lives..... probably under the guise of stopping birth defects or some other theory that fits their agenda if Govt is involved on the back end,, by removing certain obstacles from married couples that other couples have to endure,, Govt SHOULD Be involved in determining who it will do that for the moment government stops people from actually having the relationhips and commmitments they choose, is where they step over a line,,, |

people create problems,,,and solve problems citizens AND Government officials,,, Gov't doesn't solve problems, it's not in their power, but they do have the power to create them, and they do that very well! |

we elect the politicians though hippie
though we hate to face it, they represent the best AND Worst of us,, but media tends to be best at focusing on and highlighting the worst bits,,, |

I dunno, I think they have become self perpetuating now. Of course, term limits would make me believe we actually voted and mattered...but the war carries on at the ballot box.
