Topic: What horror movie do YOU think is the best? | |
---|---|
I am a huge fan of Hellraiser (it's a classic and it can be comical)
but hands down I would have to say that The Exorcist just might be one of the best horror movies ever, just because of the amazing theatrical feats it achieved in the time period it was made. Insidious was also pretty good as far as more recent horror films go. But I am eager to hear your responses :) Ready, set, GO! |

Demons by Italian director in 1985
Movie scares the **** out of me to this day! |

Too hard for me to narrow down for best of all time.
My favorite horror film of all time is the original Dawn Of The Dead. Great characters, setting, and Tom Savini's excellent effects work. |

I agree with all of those. I actually saw the new Evil Dead and thought they did a pretty good job with it. I'm not one to be squeamish when it comes to blood and guts so it was right up my alley.

I've enjoy most of the Hellraiser movies. That is to sat the last one made wasn't as good as the others. I love the Nightmare on Elm movies as well.
It's hard to think of recent ones I liked because they seem to care more about the FX then they care about the story so the movies end up sucking really badly. Here is a more recent one I like and that is the remake of Halloween and the remake of reboot of Evil Dead wasn't to bad either. You should watch the Evil dead movies. They are great for a laugh. |

I didn't like either the Evil Dead remake or the Halloween remake. I'm not anti remake, those 2 just didn't work for me. Though they are better than the Nightmare On Elm Street remake.

Completely agree! 1st off Evil Dead didn't need remaking... it was great as is. Nightmare on Elm street remake should be banned from all screens!! How dare they do that to Freddie! He is what put the fear Back into the children's desensitized hearts! |

Well I liked the Halloween remake because Rob Zombie actually went into character development. Something that was missing in the original and to me made it really stupid. I did not like the sequel to his remake though. The whole dead mother talking to Michael just didn't sit right with me.
I think the remake of I spit on your grave was worse than the original. But that's not exactly horror. Although I'm sure it's pretty terrifying to plenty of guys with the thought of some girl removing their genitals. lol |

Yeah, you win that one Torgo I like George Romero's style but those movies didn't do it for me. 28 Days Later gave a great twist on Zombies... |

Giving Michael Myers a white trash background was unnecessary. What made the original work so well for me was not knowing why Michael did what he did. As Loomis said he was pure evil. Also the fact that coming from a normal home and family made it more tragic than Zombies tired old white trash broken home routine. I enjoyed the remake of I Spit, though her elaborate traps got a little silly. I'm a huge fan of the original. |

I actually hated the original when I first saw it and it was mostly because of how the retarded guy acted. It was such a stero-type and annoyed the hell out of me. But I do love listening to the commentaries on the Blu-ray for it. They are very interesting and informative. |

It was hard as HELL to watch, both original and remake, but I think I liked the original a tad better. |

Especially love Joe Bob Brigg's commentary. All of his film commentaries are great. Sometimes more entertaining than the films themselves. |
