Topic: Why is it that most young people don't want to serve God?

Some of us certainly don't get enough to eat, that's for sure.

That isnt the point for young people staying far away from God. The little we ate is enough.

Believe me, when people are starving there's little reason for them to worry about anything besides survival, much less a deity they don't know and could care less about under their circumstances.

That may not be an issue in this country, but elsewhere a lack of food and a lack of necessities are more pressing problems for people than a belief in God. Justifiably so.

Mark_the_Man, just want to say 'thank you'

Joh 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day..2Ti 2:25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth
2tim 3 w International Version (NIV)
But mark this: There will be terrible times in
the last days. 2 People will be lovers of
themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud,
abusive, disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving,
slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not
lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash,
conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers
of God

Why is it that most young people don't want to serve God?
They begin attend church services when they're getting old. Why?

most old people are not setting an example of serving God, and all around them the culture serves the flesh and the material,,,

True.

Also there are false teachers who are in the world as the bible warns.

And a lot of evangelistic efforts are being thwarted as well.

Very few people, whether they go to church or not, set a good example to inspire others. We all need to pay more attention to Christ's teachings.

I am a Christian who believes in science, supports the LGBT community, loves accepts people from all religions, backgrounds, and cultures. I feel that most churches I attend are judgmental and close minded. Christ teaches us love, sacrifice, and acceptance. I can't find a church to match my belief system.

As was mentioned previously in this thread, The Lord draws men according to His Words. Not according to men's words.

In John 8:47 Jesus said..."He that is of God heareth God's words..."

There are many Christians and Christian Churches that only seem closed minded.
Because they keep their eyes focused on God's Word and His Word alone.

Christians cannot afford to compromise on God's truth.

Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God..Every church is made up of good people and bad people so don't be surprise if you see people who are judgemental and do things contrary to the will of God.

agreed

Christ was crucified and sometimes its easier to go with the flow of open minded worldliness than to be a 'judgemental' Christian

but , for me, Jesus judged righteously and with love and those are the two examples Christians can take when getting through the journey on this earth with others

righteous correction
loving hearts
giving hearts

are all hard to find in modern culture

Churches being judgemental has nothing to do with the original you. If you are born of the spirit, you are born to be supernatural and you are no longer living in ignorance. The most important thing is to study the Bible to be led by the Spirit of God and know what God wants us to know. Holding that faith, accepting and believing in the name that is above all other names (that name of Jesus Christ), also show love to one another, sharing God's word, repentance which is compulsory, and seperation from the world.

CeriseRose, you're right but some Christians today compromise the truth because of circumstances, they are considering the wishes of other people. Some do not preach the truth because of wealth.

Obviously our faith is based on God's truth.

Many Churches do indeed believe in matching the "world's belief system."

But remember Jesus tested His disciple's belief system.

13, When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14, And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15, He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16, And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17, And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18, And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19, And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:

That "ROCK", or foundation, was "the TRUTH" of whom Jesus truly is.

Our faith in God's "Truth" means everything.

Without that faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

Many so-called-churches allow and even encourage their members
to celebrate all religious teachings, however.

Jesus would not encourage that.

Jesus is the Christ... but "false" teachers reduce Jesus to a mere prophet.

The "ROCK" we stand on is "TRUTH".

Jesus said the gates of hell shall NOT prevail against it.

We don't budge from that rock so we only seem closed-minded.

I'm aware. My point is not irrelevant, however. As no amount of spiritual feeding will be very useful to those who can't feed themselves. If the body that houses the soul and is used by the soul to disseminate and receive truth is impaired, it follows the the word of God will not reach through as effectively, or perhaps with any effect like it would for a person without the failings that result from hunger and poverty.

This pattern is certainly applicable in modern America as well in a different context. The body of a soul impaired by neglect from parents, abuse, or perhaps bad circumstances can be more badly crippled in this sense than even those going without food who don't experience the first issues raised in this sentence.

I believe these are the largest issues preventing the young from pursuing a sound understanding.

I think then, that these matters which broadly affect the young we're speaking of here, ought to be resolved first in preparation for the significant second step of helping the young grow in more important ways.

It's difficult to appreciate scriptures when your stomach is empty, or worse, your life.

well for me I believe that a lot of young ppl r being tricked into religion.. and not being taught what is really right.. and when they fall.. fear comes on them.. and it sometimes make them want to fall back ..there flesh is weak.. but if they be taught right the right person needs to tell them that we all gone fall but its up to us to ask for forgiveness.. I know as for me I feel like Ive been thru a lot Im only 27 and im thankfully saved.. and also they feel like in this day and time as young people they cant be what "church folks" want them to be right now.. because "church folks" feeds you religion and not grace.. remember who Christ came here for.. the lost not the righteous.. if we all was sinless then there would be no Jesus..

I agree that there's a lack of inspiring people out there. A lack of good example's. It depends on who you mix with. Maybe more people could try to become better role models for their own religion. Without good role models, surely would collapse.
