Topic: Big Ten Off To Rousing Start | |

Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32
Every August there's three things we can count on: 1-It's hot outside 2-Schools around the USA's getting ready to start 3-The biased sports media tells us that the Big Ten is the best conference in college football Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 Best conference? Appy State isn't even a Division 1-A team, fer cryin' out loud. And Michigan is a pre-season Top-5 team. Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 Flags are flying at half-mast at ESPN headquarters. The darlings of the Sports network have fallen--and fallen hard. Best conference? NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!!!! Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 |

How can things get better? Here's how:
The "honorary" Big Ten team, Notre Dame just got routed 33-3 by Georgia Tech. The 2007 season's looking beautiful already--and it's just the first weekend! |

Don't worry too much, Wings, my UT Vols lost, too. Tho they lost to a GOOD team !
Seriously, in my opinion, UT didn't look very good against Cal, talent-wise. which doesn't bode well fot them, seeing as how the SEC is, by and large, improved over last year. In addition to the usual suspects, Alabama, South Carolina, and even Kentucky and Vandy all look to be better than they were a year ago. Could be rough sailing for Tennessee this season. The Southern Mississippi game Saturday looks awfully interesting all of a sudden. |

I totally agree Knox, the big 10 is a bloated mass of hype. I always go for Kentucky (where i live) and if I try to catch a game, the SEC channel usally has Florida or Georgia, mean while all the major networks have Big 10 games on.

not trying to take anything away from appalachian state but michigans' loss was embarrassing for everybody involved. hopefully they us the loss to their advantage and don't take anyone else for granted. the offense is good but the defense sucked.
sports media biased to the big ten, that's funny because i've never heard that one unless it was for ohio state. that tennessee vs.cal game was a good one to watch though. |

Not from where I was sitting ! |

it's official. UM dropped out of the top 25 this week. can't say i disagree with it either.
Is that the biggest one-week drop in history? The pollsters aren't taking any prisoners this season, are they?
i think they said it was the worst since 1968 or something knox. the pollsters need to be that way. michigan didn't have a team worthy of a #5 ranking. in the past i have always been hard on the polls because i thought that the wolverines got overlooked because they were in the big 10 but the last few years i was wrong about where they belonged. i just didn't see it til they got their asses handed to them by USC and texas.
they need to schedule tougher non conference games. unfortunately it's not going to get them better rankings til they become good enough to beat them. |
as a fan i would rather go through a couple 8 win seasons if it meant that they were becoming a better team.
I don't think they should do polls till at least the middle of Oct. Thanks to polls starting so early, Auburn got screwed a few years back, because preseason top two USC and Oklahoma went wire to wire.
