a guy may not think about suggesting what you should wear, he is more concerned about asking you...a little stress can affect the obvious! lol.
Im guessing, he asks you on a date and once you accept, then he finalise the details with you.
Perhaps he should have said, 'lets go for dinner at the xxxx, I'll pick you up at xxx'
