Why is it called the "missionary position"?
Seriously, why? is it: Because it features the man on top trying to win her to the Lord. That is in line with all the apostles being men? Or: Because Christian missionaries taught that only the normal position (with the man on top) during sex was proper. |

that is one of the problems i have with religion. they won't admit that
they don't know everything. new ideas and modern progress does not have to be sinful or evil |

I don't think all religions are that way. Maybe some religious people
but not the religion as a whole |

if you look at the hieracrchy of the jewish, christian and muslim faiths
they are all stuck in the past and incredibly reluctant to ammend things. the vatican just recently ammended the idea that the sun revolves around the earth and they are currently discussing what happens to a baby that dies before baptism. some of the newer religions are much freer but if you consider the root of the first three i mentioned they are very reluctant to move forward from the type of thinking that they had hundreds of years ago. |

Another story is:
When Christian missionaries first started traveling into primitive societies their customary position of sexual intercourse was facing one another man on top. The very primitive cultures they were surrounded by customarily engaged in sexual intercourse woman in front, man in back, facing the one direction. These two sexual customs were quite different and lead to the term of the "missionary position". |
