Topic: is loving too much a bad thing ? | |

just wanted to know and i dont mean suffocating someone with all the affection.what if you genuinly love someone so much that you would do anything for that person, and you become selfless...yet that person dont appreciate your love the way they should and you end up feeling hurt and like you are too much.

It can be a burden to make someone else feel like they are responsible for your happiness in that profound way and they may disconnect a little from that which comes across as a lack of appreciation Or as klc said maybe it just is not a good match. some people are very intense, others need time to build up intimacy to a certain level of intensity others yet are not really ever comfortable with an intense intimacy so compatability is important....good luck |

If they don't reciprocate that is a bad signal to you. |

If it isn't returned...It isn't love.

I have to say no that I would not do anything for that person. I am no fool and I will not dote on anyone nor do I feel the need to be doted on. I will respect the person and meet them halfway and even compromise but I will draw a line of what I will and won't do. I also would respect a man that also would draw the line as well. An example is if I wanted to go to the Opera and he hated it; I would not expect him to go with me and there would be no repercussion if he said no. I would expect the same if he wanted me to accompany him to say boxing or a ball game and I didn't want to do. No need to kiss someone's butt as far as I am concerned but not saying I wouldn't keep an open mind and at least try to see if I might be interested in things that he liked. |

I feel it is too bad as you hurt yourself

the love you give is the love you get
that's BS in good friendship I'd agree |

For some people what they mean by loving a person is really wanting to possess them so the love that is returned is never quite enough. Trust and respect must accompany love or it is not really love at all.

Trust and respect must accompany love or it is not really love at all. something like you describe is not really love anyway. that is more like control and manipulation....where someone thinks love exists, but is mistaken. love wants happiness for the other foremost so manipulation and control have no place. I think it takes a long time for us to learn to love after we fall in love. As true love is genuinely a loss of self that some never achieve nice ciggie BTW :) |

Until you get one of those funny papers in the mail saying you have to stay 500 feet away from that certain person. How do you know you've loved to much?
Honestly I think with what you're talking about the thing to watch out for being taken advantage of. The right or wrong person (depending on how you look at it) when they see you're willing to do so much will use you to get what ever they think they can get. Even if a person gives back a little could be them doing just enough to keep you going. |

You can not love a person too much, put a person can certainly not return the love.
