Topic: HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO FOR LOVE? | |
---|---|
How far would you go for love? Would you travel to another state or even another country? OR, Do you stay pretty well in your home state or country? I guess I just want to see how many big chance takers their are out there. I'm also curious to how many feel like they can fall in love with someone over the net to the point of traveling a long distance to meet that person.

To me love is love. I would travel to another state or country to be with the person that I care about. There are plenty of successful LDR you just have to be 100% committed to that relationship. Trust is key in every relationship, especially LDR since you won't be there with them as often as you could be with someone who lives close by. I've been in a LDR before and if you truly care about the person, it's worth it. Distance means nothing when it comes to having such strong feelings for someone. I would definitely be in a LDR if I met the right person.

I would suppose a LDR would be somewhat par to military spouses. Guys/gals are separated weeks-months at a time before being able to take R&R for a short period of time before being deployed again.
I exchanged letters with a special someone in Oregon while on tour of duty in Vietnam. We shared brief moments when I was reassigned to a tour in Germany. Absence makes the heart grow fonder! So the old saying goes. |

I had a serious relationship that required me to drive 50 miles to San Francisco, go over the Golden Gate Bridge, then drive another 20 or so miles to get to her house. I was happy to do it.

I'd go to another planet for love. I mean....think about it....if you fall for a Martian then you will have to travel on a Space Shuttle. And that would be awesome! Space Shuttle plus love? Oh yeah....winning combo!

I'd go within the US, as my condition precludes me from living out of country.

I'd go to another country if he is worth that trip...by the time i choose him and LDR,then nothing could hinder me! I mean,if i can travel for friendships, what about love! |

This is something I have a hard time wrapping my head around. I don't understand how anyone, man or woman, can leave their home and travel long distances to see someone that they really don't know. I know some may argue that they talked for a long time on the internet.
But just because you have talked to someone over the net for a long time doesn't mean you know that person. This also includes phone calls and TXT messages. You really don't know who you're talking to until you meet them. It just seems a little crazy to me to travel very far. I've been doing the on line dating thing for a long time. I've met a few, what seemed to be nice women. Just no click. All the others were either goof balls, nuts or weirdos. I met all these women within 20 to 50 miles of my home. I just don't understand the reasoning for traveling to another state or country to meet someone that I may not click with once I'm there. OR, They turn out to be either a goofball, nut or weirdo. Why travel for it when you can pretty much find all of this,at home, right outside your door? |

I don't do the bar scene so I do this. I've been here for awhile and in that time I have only had one person from my state contact me. As far as my last ldr we talked for quite awhile before we met and yes I was nervous as heck it last four years and ended not because of distance but other reasons

I would only date, consider a relationship with, someone who is local or has the kind of job that brings them locally enough that I would have a chance to get to know them fairly well. Mainly because I have found most who pursue long distance relationships are just looking for an "affair' or cyber girlfriend. I have enough pen pals.
I am a home owner and live in a place, climate, I find desirable so hopefully I would find someone with comparable tastes. Not saying I would never consider moving to the "snow belt" but it is unlikely. I would not consider an out of country relationship. I have seen a lot of interest in men around my age wanting to date/marry someone and USA citizenship it is clearly an incentive. Not happening!!! |

Nowadays traveling is so easy and web is helpfull so moving somewhere for love is not so a big deal. Me personally would happily move to different country for love. BUT I have to be sure that I have a job and capability to do something with my life other than beeing in love.

Have you ever heard of one's who say they'd give up EVERYTHING, just to be with them? I have a hard time thinking how someone can dump their heritage, friends, family, routine, all for one person. What if they don't have enough money to re-locate? Then what? lol. I just question how many are taking it seriously, because they must be an exception if you're willing to give all those things away. Maybe it's just me, but I have a harder time believing a younger guy would want an ldr with me, because has he really thought it through? I can never be that sure. An older guy I could believe more, because he'd be earning money already, and may have enough to re-locate. As someone else said, I have enough pen pals. And if I want pen pals, I know which sites to join for that. I do get your point. Though I've only ever been with men from my own country anyway. I'm just not sure if younger guys take it into account properly, because some are just here for no strings flings, which I see here a lot.

True love knows no boundaries.
Yes, a person really doesn't know another until time has been spent together in person rather than digitally. Besides, we all need a vacation now & then. Make that trip to meet your potential special someone a part of your much needed vacation before going "postal"! |

But how do you know that you did? Are you telling me that you "clicked" with different women at different times over the net? Before you ever met them? That's the hard part to me. I know that anyone can be who ever they want to be over the net. So, With knowing that, I can't see how anyone can think they really know someone well enough to travel long distance to meet that person. Right now, On another site,Their is a woman that I have been talking to now going on five yrs. I've never met her. She seems sweet and very likeable. But, In the five yrs I have talked to this woman I can't say that I really know her. She lives in Panama City Fla. I would say, guessing, 300 miles from me. I like the lady or I wouldn't have talked to her this long. But, I wouldn't travel the 300 miles give or take a little to see her. For all I know everything she has ever told me is truth. For all I know everything she has told me is nothing but bull shyt. Nothing but fabricated lies. 300 miles is a long way to go just to see if all the things you have talked about is true or just a load of bull. By the way, Just to be honest, I did it once about 5 yrs ago. It was 125 miles one way to this persons home. When I got there I found out quickly that this woman was not who she advertised herself to be. Long story short, The picture she had up was of her about three yrs out of high school. She looked around 30ish in the picture. She had long, dark wavy hair in the picture. Once I met her, She had a mullet and rotten teeth. She looked no way the same as she did in the picture. That was that for me. 250 mile round trip just to find that this person misrepresented herself. She said she thought It would be OK once I met her. GEEZE!! No more long trips to meet someone ever again for me. |
