Topic: Got my son signed up for college | |

I went with my son to sign up for his college
classes, I must admit I am a proud mom BUT once I got in there, I almost had a panic attack. I guess it just hit me that my youngest son is actually old enough to go to college and I am now finished doing what I am suppose to do. BUT I got so nervous and thought OH WOW, this is really happening. I honestly wanted to cry and say NO YOU ARE NOT READY TO DO THIS. I think I am really worried about the field he is going in and what he wants to do in the end. He is going for Criminal Justice and he wants to be a Police Officer. If anyone has ever heard of South Bend, Indiana then you know there is a shooting just about every day..how scary is that? To think that my son is going to have to deal with that....yep, scares the heck out of me!!!! |

Sorry I missed your post. Would have gotten to it sooner, otherwise.
What a shock to the system- he's all up! As a parent, your work is never done. It may be less intense and less time consuming, but you will continue to be is parent. The landscape shifts, this is true; one needs to move with it. |

Oh you are right, I don't think you ever stop being a parent.
I also have a 25 year old, so I know that it gets worse as they get older. I guess I just got all freaked out because my baby is going to college and to see him act like a young man..I had so many mixed emotions. I was very proud but yet inside I was screaming NO! I could tell that he was freaking out and he was very nervous so that did not help me at all. I told him that I would do all I could to help him if he ever has a problem. He took some of the classes that I already have taken. Makes me want to go back and finish my career!!! |
