in those finite eternities
you coerced me through salted, frozen earth a struggling shoot reaching up because you were above and this light I needed to grow, and I grew in that lifetime I did not bend nor break but weathered strong against the seasons I came as close to the sky as I could I felt your light, warmth for years and then I succumbed but I was not alone in those finite eternities you took my eroding heart and filled the dark holes, fathomless with a million stars bright, hot, curious I was no longer solidarity I was surrounded, under canopy in this forest I sang without a voice, beautiful and you danced without movement, so bright I felt maybe god was there and she loved me with the million stars you helped me see I would live a thousand lives and die a thousand deaths to sing that voiceless song life, on my lips and in my hands universes brought together above an ancient tree I would always reach above for you in those finite eternitire |
