It's so hot in Toronto.., we can fry "bacon" on the sidewalk.. It's that hot here in Texas most of the time..heard that the northeast is having a heat wave..in the 90's for 4 days running..guess with their humidity, that's pretty uncomfortable.. triple digit weather here is the norm for us. Well.. I am originally from Northern Ontario, so I also like the change of seasons.. When I look at your snow pic.., it makes me think of how I would warm you up.. LOL! We have the season changes here also..just seems like we get more 'hot' weather now than ever before..but anything in Texas wlll burn, bite, stick, or scratch you ! That snow pic has gotten a lot of comments.. Yes... I am not ignorant of the USA... I travelled a lot in my 20-30's... Yes... I would call you a "snow bunny".., in that pic... Oh...I never meant to infer that you were ignorant of the US..but I certainly am of Canada..even if my best friend lives there. And you're right..I have been called a snow bunny because of that pic. I always found it a little strange, that we had to learn so much about the US in elementary school.., but that most Americans I knew.., knew very little about Canada..? Some thought we were all living in igloos..! (seriously!!) Here's a funny, but true story... One summer, in my early teens, a bunch of us "golf caddies" were all standing around outside the clubhouse on a lunch break at one of the local golf courses (Northern Ontario... near Manitoulin Island).. It was about 87 on a hot, sunny, July day.... and we were all in shorts, with our shirts off... trying to cool off, before the next tournament round started.. A large cadillac pulled into the golf course parking lot beside us.., with skis strapped to a rack on top... and they had their windows rolled all the way up... (yet, still had the air conditioning on)... The five of us looked at each other and laughed... They pulled their car up to where we were standing and lowered the window to talk with us... The driver leaned over and asked us: "Hey.. Could one of you boys tell us where your ski hill is..?"... ( I looked in the car window and saw that they all had winter jackets beside them)... Most of us were trying not to laugh, but one of my friends walked over closer to the car and replied: "Oh! You guys arrived at the perfect time! We just had four feet of fresh powder, yesterday.. and the hill is in great shape!!"... He then gave them directions how to get there... I had many summer friends who vacationed up there... from Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, etc... Most of them had very little knowledge about Canada.. Some would even ask if the "Indians would attack them"... (Having no idea that I am part indigenous myself).. Some of my full blood friends and I often had some fun, when these visitors would drink too much and get worried about it.. (We were teenagers, remember.. LOL!) funny story...even here in Texas we get weird visitors..with all kinda of weird ideas.. Oh they taught us some things about Canada..but I guess what always stayed with me were the lakes and forests and the mountains..I'm very much all about the isolation of places..I've always wanted to be in a cabin somewhere where the nearest neighbor was days away..guess I was born too late..so I was very disappointed that parts of Canada and even Alaska was so much like our flatlands. You'd like my original area ---> (LINK) http://www.manitoulin-island.com/ |

wow...what a storm we had here. The wind was so bad it blew my heavy wooden gate right off the fence. Thank goodness it blew it onto the patio and not my car.
Hope everybody is safe and doing ok. |

It's hard to relax in this humid hot weather. More like boiling. I'd be at live gigs, and sometimes the hot weather made me go either unconcious, or brain dead. Then I'd wake up to my friends trying to pour a cool drink down my throat. lol. They thought I was diabetic because the symptoms seemed similar. I suffer from heatstroke, so I dread hot weather. It knocks me out. Can't even sunbathe in it. At least I can still join in with other stuff. Always have to keep my fan on.

Some large tree branches down in my area... and a pretty heavy wind-rain storm...
It sure cooled things off nicely, though... |

Just heat & humidity here. Might get some rain tonite. Yards need it & Lincoln Nebr. is starting water rationing. It draws from the Platte River drainage system, which gets low in the summer.

yes, I believe I'd really like that place. Largest freshwater island in the world... Most people don't know that (not even people here.. ha!) No chains of ANY kind allowed: All Mom & Pop stores and restaurants... You can still eat the fish, drink the water and swim in your own secluded spots all over the place.. |

Wow Betts...nothing else was damaged was it? Just a lot of tree branches down and a garbage Pail is MIA, but other than the gate I was really lucky. Some people in my city are still without power and it won't be restored until tomorrow. I heard on the news tonight that is was hurricane strength winds. |
