Before


I swore
I would never write one
I mean I figured that
if I had to write what I wanted to do
before I took my last breath
then I hadn’t lived
but . . . this thing called the world wide web
ruined it for me

I started travelling
by watching life from afar
concerts
festivals
Times Square on the 1st
all of these things and more right on my laptop
so yeah
I’m ruined

Soooo
there’s this place right
on the Lake Geneva shoreline . . . yeah Montreux
now silly ol’ me thought it was in Canada somewhere
and I was happy being foolish enough to believe this
but something happened
they have this jazz festival
and I was listening to the music on the world wide web
and watching the folks enjoying themselves
and I’m like wow . . . well I was speechless
before the wow part . . . yeah this place if definitely first

And now
unfortunately
I have a list
not even going to say what kind of list
but that I have a list
so yeah, it’s time to start living before . . .
