So,, does depression lead to deadbeatedness?

Im just curious, any health professionals out there, does suffering from 'depression' mean that one becomes unable to be a parent to their child

for the past five years I have been a single mom, struggling and making it through best I can, yet, the father sends gifts on holidays and birthdays and expects me to empathize with him because he is not in our daughters life

now he sends me articles about depression, I guess to try to explain why he is such a deadbeat,,,

I just have a hard time mustering up compassion for him though, I realize depression is a mental issue, but I also know there is treatment and people who live with it without allowing it to completely make them void from their childs lives for YEARS at a time,,,

just some advise, if there is any illness that makes you incapable of being the parent a child deserves,,, DONT MAKE CHILDREN...

Scientists say that parents should control their children of course but overloading it is being called to be 'helicopter parents' above them. Warning! :)))

I don't care how depressed you are and believe me I've been there you should still be in your child's life

AMEN to that !
I would and have many times traded my own happiness for the sake of my kids !
{Not that they always appreciate it}
lol
And one loses so much in NOT being involved with their kid's lives
It is YOUR loss Amigos !
Cherish them...
The future is in your hands !
