Watching movie after movie
Cracked jokes to make me laugh
Brought me silly cards and flowers to make me smile
Carried me when I could not walk
Drove me every where I had to go
Never once did you complain
Never once did you say you were busy

No matter how scared I got
You were there to hold my hand
Telling me it would be ok
It wasn't going to win this time
Death wouldn't have its day
Held me when the pain became too much to bear
Letting me lose myself in your deep blue eyes
Never once asking for anything in return
I got well, walked once again
Covered in bruises and needle marks
You still told me I was beautiful
Even when I muttered that you were insane

We still spend time together
Dancing around the subject that was once brought up
I ask you to come with me on my trip
You decline, too much work on the farm
I can see it in your eyes, you want to go
I can see other things there too
Those feelings we both fight
So afraid it will ruin what we have
A friendship from childhood
So we both walk away, dancing around the subject yet again
A familiar dance we've danced for years
