The world explodes A cry for help A bid for attention The senseless actions Of an unknown mind Is there something I can do? Fire lights the night Consuming dreams Engendering nightmares A town ripped open Bleeding raw and red Is there something I can do? A shot rings out In terror, frozen Faces of the fearful Half in the dark I've no more light than they Is there something I can do? Harsh words or silence Bitter over sweet A chill wind stealing Summer's warmth away An empty echo rings Is there something I can do? I am insignificant Alone against enormities But I am one No cipher, not for nought I am one There is something I can do. One is all it takes One repeated One multiplied One against the dark Light to light a million times There is something we can do. We are one And one by one We are legion The darkness shall not stand For we are one. This, then, we shall do As I shall do. I am one.
