Is it clear he is genuine? If he has yet to give you reason not to trust him, then sure. Make the first hello a public one and one more where its more private qnd your friends are hiding and ready to pounce if be steps out of line. If he passes both those tests without being "overly aggressive" then I'd say he's a good dude to give a genuine shot at a relationship (no different then a dude you woulda met out and about anyway). Just feel like online dating is nice to meet people but requires a couple extra hurdles to prove he's not a "special."
