For dating purposes only age does not matter. For getting closer I would want someone closer to my age so we can spend our "golden years" together. My problem with dating women my age is they can't take amusement parks and concerts anymore. That is not true of ALL older women, maybe the ones You know. uh huh .... we all know he's looking for someone who won't gum him to death lol (oooooo I am sooooo bad) |

In my thirties, I had relationships with guys who were as much as 6 or 7 years my junior, and when I was 19 I dated a guy who was 28.
It's funny; 6, 7 or even 9 years isn't as big an age difference now as it was then, in terms of the fraction of my own age those years represent. I'm 48 now, and these days all I ask is that the guy I date be emotionally mature and not so young that he makes me feel old. Admittedly, I'd feel old if I were dating a guy in his thirties! Likewise, I want someone who is still young enough to think like me and to keep up with my interests. So now I place the floor and ceiling of age range for guys I'd consider dating at around 7 years in either direction of my own age, weighted slightly in favor of the older ones but not so much that I'd say no to someone incredibly suitable just because he occupied the younger end of the spectrum. Guys over 40 are just generally more mature than the late-20-somethings I was dating when I was 34 or so... |

There's a woman on here that's the same age as me and lives locally but she told me that even though she thinks that I'm a great guy she only goes out with younger men. "It's just a preference" she said but it is agist and I think that it's a bit sad when people can't just grow up and stop trying to recapture their youth by doing that.

In the past the youngest man I ever dated was 4 years my senior. It was probably that I wasn't attracted to the maturity level of many men my age.
At my current age, however, I think I could go back several years without maturity proving an issue. |
