I remember my mom's friend was a total Elvis FREAK, She's a big lady, peroxide blonde full ratted beehive goin on, loud funny, always wore Elvis shirts, she was working feeding the firefighters up in the canyon at a bad fire, So my mom & I went up there to tell her... they might as well of sounded the evacution sirens!
She was wailing like that, I'll never forget that sound!! |

I don't remember wailing like that but I had a friend name Paul, I called him to tell him and he almost passed out,he was so shocked on the phone he couldn't breathe, he was crying. He was a real Elvis freak that guy. He kept saying,I'm gonna faint,I'm gonna faint. I'll always remember that.

My dad told me that my mom was a big Elvis fan. Oh, wow I was just getting married for the first time. No wonder my marriage was doomed. It all makes sense now. Thanks for reminding me of Elvis passing away.

Back in the day before cable television...I watched a marathon of Elvis movies on the local CBS station.
Of course I had the sound turned off and was listening to Pink Floyd and The Doobie Brothers on the stereo... |

I was just a young Mom of two small kids...but remember when the news broke....it was shocking to say the least. I liked Elvis's music but not a major fan.

I was nine, and a BIG Elvis fan. My Dad always used to tease me about it, but he would sit and watch the movies with me and let me listen to his Elvis LPs. We were sitting down to dinner as a family, (all nine of us at the table) and my Dad said to me "did you hear the news? Elvis died today." I lokked at him and said "yeah, right, Dad real funny" When he looked up at me again I could see he really was upset and he wasn't joking with me. I remember running from the table and crying for the rest of the night.
I won't forget it and now my 14 yr old is an Elvis fan too, (of her own choosing). |

I was serving in Northern Ireland with the British army.
There were quite a lot of sombre faces all over the province on that day. |

I was a huge fan of Elvis and always wanted to go see him, even thought about going to Memphis, but I was 8 months pregnant and the airline would not let me get on the plane, so I had to stay at home and was devostated by the loss.
