I work with the reality of the unfortunate end result. As a RN I have yet to help treat someone who thought they would contract an STD. I have rarely treated someone who wasn't careful, meaning they used a barrier method birth control. Most of my clientele are educated, smart, good wage earners and now dealing with gonarrhea, chlamydia, these two often run in together, herpes and HIV.

Just because we look good, smell good, sound good and know good people doesn't mean we are all good. Wearing a condom is important but it is not a guarantee of safety.

This is not to say this could not happen in a long term, committed relationship, but the likelihood that this occurs more often in a causal relationship is much higher.

I completely agree with you. I have had some fantastic meetings with women who want No Strings Attached fun and romance. They are stuck in a loveless marriage/relationship and just want to feel alive and special for a while and get off the rat race.
